G40 4SL 294174 I am passionate about delivering high-quality care to all my patients I have ha d to work with. I have always been motivated because of my personal qualities, which include enthusiasm, compassionate and showing courage. My desire to become a nurse and particularly a nurse for elderly patients has developed out of my own work experience and a growing sense that my own personal fulfilment lies in serving those who are most vulnerable. when I moved to Glasgow, I volunteered for a job as a care assistant in a nursing home for the elderly in 2013. I felt a sense of meaning and appreciation, both personally and professionally. I began my health care course between 2014 to 2021 and enjoyed the return to education, which has trained me in the essential academic skills such as essay writing and referencing. At the same time I worked as a care assistant in a care home where I worked with patients suffering from different illnesses, for example Alzheimer's, and came to the understanding of their frustration at being unable to communicate effectively. Being able to adapt to their communication needs depending on their environment gave me joy when building a therapeutic relationship. I also tended to the needs of terminally ill patients, learning in this way the emotional demands of nursing but also gaining a deep sense of reward from feeling that I had contributed to their welfare during their final weeks and days. In 2017, I attended adult nursing in University. During that time I gained experience in a wide variety of practice environments, namely rehabilitation for people with spinal injuries, care of the elderly and the community in wound management. I did my last placement in communicable disease ward where I experienced o how to care for people with different types of infectious diseases and how we as nurses have had to make the necessary adjustments in the way we work in the times of pandemic. Skills gains include whilst completing my placement in care of elderly and rehabilitation has allowed me to learn more about legislation and has helped me develop ways of working in a person-centred way, individual care planning, importance of risk assessing as well as working alongside my colleagues as part of a team. The importance of getting things right includes being able to plan, prioritise, and remember to always keep the patient safe, which i will maintain throughout my career as a nurse. I can reflect on my achievements whilst I was at university as a student and gained skills in being able to adapt my communicating skills to the needs of the individual, which is the key when building therapeutic relationships. I have also come to a realisation of the importance of managing my time whilst working and balancing my other commitments outside work that will enable me to maintain my mental health and wellbeing. This will allow me to drive my career in the right direction as well as maintaining to make a difference in other people lives in a positive way. All my experience has allowed me to have confidence within clinical skills and regularly keep up to date with regular training. With all these opportunities that I have been fortunate to take part in will help me work with patient diverse conditions and making sure I provide the highest quality of care and maintain the core values that every Nurse strives to maintain that include compassion whilst caring for their patients. After graduating, I worked in NHS Trust in an elderly ward and also worked with an agency in care homes. During this time, I have adapted to the needs of the patients, attending to their daily grooming, administering medication, changing and redressing wounds, feeding and monitoring physical observations. I look forward to hearing from you and hope to work alongside your family in the near future.
