Introduction: what Curam is and how it helps

Curam is a UK home care platform that connects families directly with self-employed carers. Every carer is DBS checked, insured and provides two checkable references, and you choose who supports you rather than being assigned someone by an agency.

You can arrange live-in care for round-the-clock support, hourly and visiting care for help at set times of day, or overnight care for reassurance through the night.

Because carers set their own rates and there are no agency overheads, clients on Curam pay on average 22% less than the UK Home Care Association's suggested hourly rate of £28.53.

If you would prefer a fully managed service, Curam Managed Care is regulated by the Care Quality Commission.

Are Curam carers checked?

Yes. Every carer is DBS checked and insured, has their right to work in the UK verified, is biometrically ID checked to banking standards, and provides two checkable references. You can see experience, training and qualifications on each profile before you decide.

How much does home care cost with Curam?

Carers are self-employed and set their own rates, which vary by location, experience and the level of care needed. On average, clients pay 22% less than the UK Home Care Association's suggested hourly rate. Use the cost calculator to check typical rates in your area.

Is Curam regulated by the Care Quality Commission?

Curam's Managed Care service is CQC regulated, with assessments, quality audits and safeguarding oversight. If you hire a self-employed carer directly through the platform, you can move to the managed service at any point. Read more about Managed Care.

What is the difference between Curam and a home care agency?

With an agency, the agency chooses who visits you and sets the price. With Curam, you choose your own carer, agree the rate with them directly, and there are no agency overheads or tie-in contracts. Many families find this gives them more continuity, because they keep the same carer.

How quickly can care start?

Once you post your requirement it is common to receive carer applications within hours. Most families interview and start care within a few days, with faster cover available for urgent situations such as hospital discharge.
