Dementia care needs can change unexpectedly. A regular carer may become unavailable, a family member may fall ill or your loved one may return home from hospital with little notice. Curam can help you search for emergency dementia care in Glasgow, including carers who may be available on the same day or at short notice.
Depending on local availability, the time of your request and the complexity of the care required, a suitable carer may be able to begin within hours or within 24 hours. Same-day dementia care cannot be guaranteed. Sharing clear information about the person’s routines, communication, mobility, risks and support needs can help suitable carers respond more quickly. An emergency dementia carer may help with personal care, meals, medication reminders, mobility, companionship, reassurance and maintaining a safe, familiar routine.

"I am a highly motivated and goal oriented individual with a compassionate and respectful attitude. I have vast experience in the health care profession. I served 20 years in military hospitals as a qualified nurse in my home country, I am not pin registered in the UK. I love to serve people who are vulnerable and have some special needs. I provide personal care, emotional support, and help with household chores, administer medication, monitor health, carefully maintain records, and collaborate with other health professionals to support a person's independence and well-being. I also have extensive knowledge and experience within handling and moving, safe guarding, and infection control training."

"Hi, my name is Serena, I am 52 years old. I am originally from Italy but I have been living in Scotland since 2013. I was already a carer in my country, I was a living carer for a couple ,the wife was with Alzheimer and the husband 89 years old .Then their daughter was bipolar so I had few challenges, I was doing everything in the house, plus book appointments and give meds. Same here for almost 3 years I have been looking after a Lady with dementia and difficult mobility. Then I start work for care homes and community, I get more knowledges about hoists, lifting ,approach different kinds of dementia 's stage and had my SVQ3. I am very carefully about the need of my clients and I always try to cheer them up. Understand the situation and promote their independence, as well their humans rights. Have been in behaviours challenges and learn to react in the best way to let the person calm down. I can change stomach bag, hoists people and cook. I have got a car and I would love to take care of the people in their houses, because I think they feel more comfortable."

"I’ve primarily worked with adults (18+) providing a range of care duties since 2005. My previous work covers adult disability fostering services, respite services, community support work, and supported living, including waken and sleeping nights. I live in the north side of Glasgow, however I cover all areas of Glasgow and surrounding. I am a business insured driver and have use of my own car, I also on occasion drive clients cars as requested. I currently work in partnership with a major care provider in Glasgow on a self-employed basis and provide bank work to others as required. I’m fully upto date with all my training, PVG and SSSC registered. I’m currently studying my social work degree which I do in my spare time. I treat everyone I meet with dignity and respect as well as maintaining client confidentiality. I wear visible ID when out and about where a risk maybe presented to myself or the person I’m supporting while respecting the clients right to privacy where possible. My hourly rate is a reflection of the professional service that I provide as a private carer. I am generally very busy with a full client base and waiting list, however, care requirements for many clients change frequently so please check with me on my current availability. Should you have any questions then please feel free to reach out to me through the Curam Platform. "
A dementia carer supports the person to live as safely, comfortably and independently as possible.
The role is not limited to completing practical tasks. A skilled carer also learns how the person communicates, recognises signs of distress and adapts their approach as needs change.
Support may include:
Dementia can affect communication. A carer may need to speak clearly, allow extra time for responses and pay attention to facial expressions, body language and changes in behaviour.
Rather than correcting or confronting the person unnecessarily, the carer should aim to understand what they may be feeling or trying to communicate.

Care can be arranged for a few hours, overnight or on a live-in basis, depending on the person’s needs.
A dementia carer learns the person’s established routine and supports them to follow it as consistently as possible.
This may include help getting up, washing, dressing, eating meals, taking medication, enjoying familiar activities and preparing for bed.
The carer may use clear prompts, simple choices and gentle reassurance while encouraging the person to complete tasks they can still manage independently.
The cost of dementia care in Glasgow depends on the type of care, the number of hours required, the carer’s experience and the complexity of the person’s needs.
Current Curam Glasgow rates start from approximately:

£135 per 10-hour shift for overnight care
