Hi I’m Lin, I’m very empathetic which I get told all the time! I actually have a natural caring personality and never try to judge people as we all have our own journey. I like helping others which in turn makes me feel good! I was a carer for my Mum until she passed away. I was a carer for over 6yrs. I feel very blessed to have been able to care for my late Mother right up towards the end of her life. I also have had experience with care within my family, Mum as mentioned whom had suffered a stroke, my sister whom has MS, and also for others through outside care work. My presence is known in my local community (village) in regards to being caring and I have helped many people through word and mouth. I recently completed 2 courses. Caring for the Elderly Level 2 and Counselling Skills Level 2. My courses that I have completed cover many things from Safeguarding to Dementia. I do have a driving licence but due to circumstances need to build my confidence driving. I am also looking at taking my CBT training in Motorcycle riding to be able to ride a scooter regarding my transportation. I have been doing care work in different situations for a long time. I have been doing care work within my family in the past for well over 6yrs and also caring for other people in total over 10yrs. I have had experience with MS, Dementia to Stoma care. I love giving companionship, I get told I have a good sense of humour, and just want people to be HAPPY and if I can be part of them living a life that they wish then I am happy. I feel I just have a caring nature. Hobbies inc films, cooking, pets, travel, walks, cycling socialising and just relaxing.
My passion for a career in care began at a young age - I always knew that helping people was what I wanted to do. I became my grandparents carer for a short time, until Social Services stepped in and brought in two packages of care for them both. I witnessed how professional Healthcare Assistants made a great impact to their and my life and where I once I felt the need to care for them my visits were more sociable and spending my time with them until they passed away. From witnessing how carers made a big impact on my grandparents daily routines and lives I went down the childcare route into elderly care. Through my 10 years of working in healthcare I have gained experience of working in the following settings care homes, residential homes, nursing homes, respite centres and home care and worked with individuals that may have complex care, be elderly, be considered to have mental health, be a young person, child or infant, have seizures, behaviour that challenges, a learning disability or other health conditions such as diabetes, muscular dystrophy, myotonic dystrophy, have a peg, catheter, Tracheotomy or stoma bag. Establishing a broad range of skills with my career of care has equipped me with essential skills. However I believe this has not made me great at my role. Having a person centered approach has shaped me into a carer that will respect my client, maintain their dignity and treat them with compassion. While I am not working I like to spend time with my family, my pets and going out to the beach and forest. I love my garden and being outside, however all this running about does get tiring and I often enjoy sitting down with a good book and cup of tea.
I am a Stubbington based carer. My goal is to make sure people get the help they need and see they happy. I am a natural carer. I will put in my all to make sure my client gets the help they need to live their life as independent as possible while supporting them to enjoy their everyday life.
