I have worked in health and social care for almost 25 years, the last 18 in the community. I love my work and making a difference in peoples lives. I have specialised in palliative care in the community for over ten years and have a lot of experience working with clients with a dementia diagnosis. I have worked with disabled adults, young children and teenagers which involved some autism, muscular dystrophy and other more complex / genetic conditions, some work in rehabilitation both physical and ex offenders with psychiatric conditions. I've worked for many years with the elderly including two years specialised EMI care. I have worked as a senior carer in many settings and also managed home care for a private firm for two years as a domiciliary care consultant. Palliative / elderly care is my main area of expertise, however I enjoy working with people of all ages, and work from a person centred approach. I cherish meeting so many people, and building relationships with them. I’ve been lucky enough to work with patients of a large age range, my youngest being 4 years old and my oldest being 103! I have worked through registered businesses also privately, in institutionalised settings as well as many years community experience during the day and over night, unsupervised lone working whilst maintaining high standards without guidance is second nature. Whilst I have worked in a variety of settings, I much prefer working on a 1-1 basis so my time is just for you. I am reliable and hard working, and I am very clean and organised in all I do, a good time keeper and very much a forward planner. Over the years I have achieved various qualifications including NVQ level 2 & 3 in Care, Level 3 Edexel Certificate in End Of Life Care, Level 3 Certificate in Supporting Care Practice, Adult Psychology Diploma, plus a plethora of other courses pertaining to specific conditions and safe use of various medical aids and equipment. I am very approachable with a calm easy going character, and the patience of a saint I have often been told. Very empathetic by nature and I understand the stresses, pressures and frustrations associated with caring for a loved one at home, I feel privileged to be welcomed into your home to allow me to support you or give you a much needed break. In my spare time reading and researching various subjects is a big pass time. I love more than anything being in the garden, feeding the birds, I both feed and have hog houses for the hedgehogs as well as being a volunteer as a driver for the local hog rescue. Some years I grow my own fruits and vegetables when time allows also. I have three cats at home who I spoil rotten! I adore animals so if you have pets I can fuss over thats great! I enjoy walks in the countryside or around the lake, I love nature in general. I do not charge a short notice rate to clients I am already attending.
I am a highly competent and enthusiastic care professional, with an out going personality great communication skills and a passion for caring for others. Multi skilled and self motivated with a dedication for providing personal and physical in a one to one basis. A proven ability to meet the personal care needs of others in a way that respects the dignity of the individual and promotes their independence. With my two year experience, effective solutions will be developed to problems with an active and dynamic approach to work and getting things done efficiently and un supervised.
I have been working in care for nearly 4 years. My most recent experience is working with the NHS Professionals as a Care Support Worker. I love taking care of people and spending time with them especially because personally, I have been a patient of care since birth due to health conditions so I know how people feel. My last treatment included a bone marrow transplant when I was 18. Due to this, I have been passionate to work in a care environment because of how good the care I received, I want to give back the amazing care whenever I get the opportunity. I have worked with patients all ages from newborn to elderly. I provide great care for my clients by involving them in daily activities in their own comfort way. I love to make daily activities fun by ensuring the client is fully involved on how their care is formed. I love reading, especially crime fiction novels. I am a good cook, It’s a massive part of my life since I live with 6+ people so i’m always trying out new recipes. Growing up with 2 brothers made me passionate about sport, I watch football and a true Manchester United fan. I provide personal care for those who need it, prompt exercise and moving around generally.
I am a self-motivated, hardworking person with various skills in my personal life that are transferable across into many job roles, is able to work well as part of a team as well as on my own initiative. Pride myself in being a proactive person, ensuring that I use the best of my abilities and work to high standard all times, this I apply to my daily life and has shown to be very effective.
