Introduction: Hello. I’m Joe. I am based between Harrow in London and the north east of England. I also have family in several parts of the country, so am able to work in nearly all locations in England. I have several years experience as a professional carer and additionally, I looked after both my parents for many years. I specialise in helping those with Dementia. I usually work on a Live in basis on my own OR job sharing with another carer, where we each work several weeks on/several off. I can also work waking or sleeping nights. On3 November 2035, I was fortunate to be awarded Curam Care ‘Carer of the Month’ in recognition of my work. If you would like to discuss your needs, please message me. There is no commitment on your part. About me : I am well liked and a caring person, working at a pace you are comfortable with. I’ll be sensitive to your needs, appreciating there will be times when you need hands on support and others where your privacy needs to be respected, my being in the background until needed. In terms of duties, I am adept at the full range a carer performs : admin, washing/dressing, medications, cooking and cleaning, companionship and shopping. I enjoy sport, tv, music, conversation and gardening, so if that is important to you, you can be sure that, together, we will have your garden looking grand. I also enjoy all forms of art. I try to make each day interesting for my client. For example, looking at the news/current affairs/favourite tv programmes and talking about what is happening in the world and locality. Using board games, puzzles and pictures, reading, music and photo albums to stimulate laughter and happy memories. Clients often like to reminisce about the places they have lived and there are lots of clips on you tube, showing towns as they were and are now, which can be of interest. And for those able to get out and about, I enjoy accompanying clients on journeys, be this shopping, cafes, community or gardening centres, or arts and craft events, etc. Additionally, I’m aware of the importance of light exercise, to retain flexibility and muscular strength in old age, be this short supported walks. a tour of the garden, or chair based movements. I am also very much aware of the need to keep loved ones informed at all times, of any development that may require their attention. And I take the responsibility very seriously of liaising with health professionals and documenting advice/decisions taken, particularly in regard to medications.. To this end, I usually keep a record sheet for each client, recording any important information/developments on a daily basis. Additionally, if a client were to experience a change in their condition (as often occurred with my own father), I am competent at reporting those to district nurses, gp and other health professionals, and in the necessary follow up. I am not trained in physiotherapy but have used chair and bed based stretching exercises to aid client wellbeing/recovery. Overall, I am a calm head on old shoulders and am used to responsibility and decision making, having held senior management positions in my professional working life. But it is in retirement that I have found my true vocation, caring for others and I really enjoy being able to help people in their elder years. Joe.
I’m an experienced carer of over 20years-I tailor all care to fit the individual and provide flexibility should needs change . I have provided care for all ages from elderly through to children covering a variety of needs from mental, physical, aging and providing companionship and support to partake in daily living .
I am a caring person with empathy for those who can not take care of themselves. I derive so much joy and get great fulfillment giving quality and person centred care and seeing them happy living their lives to the fullest. I am strong and energetic. I am hardworking and resilient, self-motivated and also very patient with good listening skills and good body language. I am honest, courageous and competent. I love my job as a carer and I am committed to the duty of care. I have worked with the elderly and also children in residential care homes and I was once a Nursery teacher. I prefer to do a live in rotation of 2 weeks on 2 weeks off. On my off time I am available to work nights.
I have always been a person who has the interests of clients at heart. I look after them to the best of my ability and I am a team player and person who can adapt to any situation. I am a hard-working person; this is demonstrated by my choice to work in a voluntary capacity within my community, which is largely dominated by people from different cultural and social backgrounds. This shows that l have efficiency and effective working knowledge and general understanding of ethical, social, cultural and global awareness on issues that affects people in their communities. I am also a competent communicator as l can tailor communication to different levels, for example, working with the elderly requires good speaking and listening skills. My transferable knowledge of legality learned from my studies has underpinned my professional development around Data Protection and policies of equality, diversity and inclusion. My self-awareness and reflection direct me in a good direction within the organisation. In my former and current roles as well as in my studies, I have shown commitment to working in teams as well as working independently depending on the nature of the task to be completed and l can be trusted to complete tasks supervised or unsupervised. My current role demands the highest degree of time keeping, planning and using own initiative. I can work under pressure as I am aware of the requirement to prioritise plans and tasks and I also have a proven track record as an effective support worker.
