Introduction:
Hello. I’m Joe.
I have family in several parts of the country, so am able to work in nearly all locations in England.
I have several years experience as a professional carer and additionally, I looked after both my parents for many years.
I specialise in helping those with Dementia, cancer and rehabilitation at home upon hospital discharge.
I usually work either:
-sleeping or waking nights
OR
-live in on my own or job sharing with another carer, where we each work several weeks on/several off.
On3 November 2035, I was awarded Curam Care ‘Carer of the Month’ in recognition of my work.
If you would like to discuss your needs, please message me. There is no commitment on your part.
About me :
I am well liked and a caring person, working at a pace you are comfortable with. I’ll be sensitive to your needs, appreciating there will be times when you need hands on support and others where your privacy needs to be respected, my being in the background until needed.
In terms of duties, I am adept at the full range a carer performs : admin, washing/dressing, medications, cooking and cleaning, companionship and shopping.
I enjoy sport, tv, music, conversation and gardening, so if that is important to you, you can be sure that, together, we will have your garden looking grand. I also enjoy all forms of art.
I try to make each day interesting for my client. For example, looking at the news/current affairs/favourite tv programmes and talking about what is happening in the world and locality. Using board games, puzzles and pictures, reading, music and photo albums to stimulate laughter and happy memories. Clients often like to reminisce about the places they have lived and there are lots of clips on you tube, showing towns as they were and are now, which can be of interest.
And for those able to get out and about, I enjoy accompanying clients on journeys, be this shopping, cafes, community or gardening centres, or arts and craft events, etc.
Additionally, I’m aware of the importance of light exercise, to retain flexibility and muscular strength in old age, be this short supported walks. a tour of the garden, or chair based movements.
I am also very much aware of the need to keep loved ones informed at all times, of any development that may require their attention. And I take the responsibility very seriously of liaising with health professionals and documenting advice/decisions taken, particularly in regard to medications.. To this end, I usually keep a record sheet for each client, recording any important information/developments on a daily basis.
Additionally, if a client were to experience a change in their condition (as often occurred with my own father), I am competent at reporting those to district nurses, gp and other health professionals, and in the necessary follow up. I am not trained in physiotherapy but have used chair and bed based stretching exercises to aid client wellbeing/recovery.
Overall, I am a calm head on old shoulders and am used to responsibility and decision making, having held senior positions in my professional working life.
I really enjoy being able to help people in their elder years. Feel free to contact me for a chat, without obligation.
Regards, Joe.
