Having worked in the care industry for over 20 years I have acquired a lot of transferable skills that I think are essential to have as a care provider. I am a keen advocate for person centred care. And know that as a care provider I should not let my own beliefs impact on the standard of care I provide or influence how I treat individuals regardless of them having different beliefs or value systems. I also know and understand that I have to ensure I deliver a safe service by working within all policies and procedures frameworks. effective communication is also an essential skill to ensure important information is relayed to the appropriate stakeholders within the care set up, hence multi disciplinary team working is essential. Effective communication also serves to safeguard service users by way of reduction of potential mistakes. I have cared for juveniles, adolescents and adults in different settings and fully understand that their needs are different. I absolutely love life and try and live a positive and happy life. I am friendly and love to laugh and enjoy other people’s company as much as I am content to do things by myself. I love to cook and love taking long walks. Family is very important to me and I also have a great group of friends. I love my allotment and spend a good time tendering to my plants and miss it in the winter. My name is Sally, I am a mature lady who has always worked in care. I trained as a nurse in 1987, I’ve raised two boys and now have lovely grandchildren. I pride myself in giving individual person-centred care, I retired from nursing in 2017 but continued as a carer. My experience covers many conditions, illnesses and reasons for people requiring care. I’ve worked in hospitals, residential homes and in recent years I've enjoyed caring for people in their own homes. Alongside personal care I'm happy cooking, doing general housework and caring for pets. I hope that I can help someone stay in their own home as long as they are able to. It is important to build a relationship with the person and with their family building trust and bringing positive feelings each day. I'm based in the Midlands, I'm happy to provide hourly care, longer day shifts or live in care as required. I’m as happy in a rural setting as I am in a busy town, driving for two hours approximately to a placement is fine. In my free time I enjoy embroidery, jigsaws, walking, gardening, cycling and I’m also an animal lover which comes from my farm upbringing. I am unable to do waking night shifts or late into the evening. Being woken through the night to attend to someone is fine. I'm very happy to chat on the phone.
