Availability update, Winter 2025/26: I will be available from the 18th of December to the 11th of January, inclusive, ideally for placements of at least two weeks' duration. For the right client I can drive to any part of the UK and do not charge travel expenses. --- In June 2025 I was named Curam's carer of the month! I am a Scottish lady with a Law degree who decided to go into care and housekeeping. I started medical school in St Andrews in September 2024 and hope to combine this with live-in work during holiday times. I have been a carer since 2021, undergoing full residential training with a live-in agency. In my time with the agency I gained experience working with MND, learning disabilities, Parkinsons, stroke, catheter care and late-stage dementia, among others. In May 2022 my friend had a stroke and I was invited by her family to move in and help her to recover. I lived with her as a carer and a friend until June 2023 when she sadly passed away. Since my friend's passing I have worked with a variety of clients through Curam, as well as with a private client from October 2023 until March 2024. Up to this point my references have been uniformly positive. I have seven 'Excellent' recommendations on Curam. I would describe myself as independent, conscientious and an organiser. If your environment is very cluttered or disorganised, this would need to be sorted out before I can start working with you. Apart from my native English, I am a DPSI-qualified Spanish interpreter with excellent Italian and French. I do not charge clients for travel to or from placements. I have a full driving licence (manual and automatic) and can be insured to take clients in my car. Two practical points: 1. I cannot commit to a placement until the Service Agreement has been approved. Recently (May 2024) a client made a firm offer but pulled out several days later, on short notice. 2. I ask clients to settle their invoices before work begins. Because of a difficult experience in the past, I will not travel to you until this has been done. These funds are held safely by Curam until after the end of the work period and will be refunded if for any reason the work is not completed.
Hello there! I have over 20 years experience in the Care industry and in supporting individuals with their daily lives. In this time I have developed many varied skills, which I execute with compassion and a professional approach. I am a hard worker and enjoy getting to know my clients so I can support their needs, interests and hobbies as best I can. It’s good to share stories & experiences of life. I respect & value my clients’ privacy and I support independence where appropriate and possible. I am an efficient house keeper and like to keep my clients houses clean & tidy. I enjoy helping my clients look their best at all times & have experience in all aspects of personal care- such as self grooming, dressing, hygiene needs. Assistance with cooking, cleaning, administrative & house hold duties are all in my remit of care. I have a full driving licence & enjoy taking clients out & about if they wish, as part of a healthy lifestyle ie walks/ wheelchair in the fresh air; to visit friends & family; shopping; or places of interest. I am happy to work on a daily basis or provide 24 hour care as well as restpite care. (This may be dependant on the geographical location of my clients home). After many years of working with children with assisted learning & physical needs, with both the public & private sector I moved towards caring for the elderly. I became a self employed private carer, both as a daily support worker and 24 he care as part of a team, spanning nearly 12 years now. I am a creative person with an interest in the Arts. I was a trained ballet dancer in my youth, so very much enjoy watching dance on the TV or theatres. I love to be in nature whether for a walk in woods or beaches, walking dogs or gardening. I like to cook healthy meals & soups but perhaps need more practice with baking! Watching old movies is also a favorite pastime as well as reading. I enjoy peacefulness and activities such as board & word games, drawing & painting. As a Christian, I am happy toto take my clients to their preferred place of worship. Thank you for taking the time to read my profile and if you fell I may be a good fit for you & your needs, please don’t hesitate to get in touch with me- I’d love to hear from you. Thank you Rhona
I am 38 years of age and I live in a wee village, just 10 minutes outside of Cupar, Fife. I live here with my husband and numerous rescue animals. We moved up here from Sussex in 2016. I have 2.5 years of past experience in care work, primarily live-in and drop-in care work, down in England. However, caring for others (be they human or nonhuman) is a fundamental aspect of my outlook and is integrated into my everyday life. Thus, I have always thought I would return to care work at some point as it is a logical and natural progression. My past care experience has primarily been live-in care work for clients with conditions such as Parkinson's disease, dementia, visual/physical impairment, and Autism and Down Syndrome. I have also worked in nursing homes and as a drop-in carer. Thus, I have exposure to a wide range of clients and conditions. I am in the process of updating my previous 16 training certificates that I completed a decade ago in various aspects of care. I am open to working with all types of client and conditions. I have a bit of a portfolio career; this currently includes remote teaching on an MSc in animal welfare/ethics, editing work, and independent research into animal welfare/ethics-related topics as well as looking after rescue cats, dogs, and ex-commercial hens at home. In the past, my portfolio career has included teaching drama to children, being a yoga teacher, and most importantly, care work. I am keen once again to add care work to my activities. Caring for and pleasing people comes naturally to me; it would be a pleasure to assist you in your life. Availability: Various part-time options including respite live-in care work (willing to travel as far as nearby cities) and/or approximately 1 to 5 hours per week. I can typically travel up to approximately 10 miles for regular weekly visits (possibly further away if time travelling and petrol costs are covered) and significantly further afield for less frequent visits.
