I am a Scottish lady with a law degree who decided to go into care and housekeeping. I started medical school in St Andrews in September 2024 and hope to combine this with live-in work during holiday times. I have been a carer since 2021, undergoing full residential training with a live-in agency. In my time with the agency I gained experience working with MND, learning disabilities, Parkinsons, stroke, catheter care and late-stage dementia, among others. In May 2022 my friend had a stroke and I was invited by her family to move in and help her to recover. I lived with her as a carer and a friend until June 2023 when she sadly passed away. Since my friend's passing I have worked with a variety of clients through Curam, as well as with a private client from October 2023 until March 2024. Up to this point my references have been uniformly positive, with eight 'Excellent' recommendations on Curam. I would describe myself as independent, conscientious and an organiser. I communicate observations and suggestions with clients and family members on a constant basis, often several times per day. If your environment is very cluttered or disorganised, this would need to be sorted out before I can start working with you. For placements which involve cooking, I generally ask for access to a dishwasher. Apart from my native English, I am a DPSI-qualified Spanish interpreter with excellent Italian and French. I do not charge clients for travel to or from placements, or for short local journeys within placements. I have a full driving licence (manual and automatic) and can be insured to take clients in my car. Three practical points: 1. I cannot commit to a placement until the Service Agreement has been approved. Recently (May 2024) a client made a firm offer but pulled out several days later, on short notice. 2. I ask clients to settle their invoices before work begins. Because of a difficult experience in the past, I will not travel to you until this has been done. These funds are held safely by Curam until after the end of the work period and will be refunded if for any reason the work is not completed. 3. I cannot offer a refund if, after the Agreement has been approved, work is no longer required, for example if the client moves into hospital or a care facility on short notice.

Flora has been outstanding in supporting Gill’s 24-hour care. She manages medication safely and even worked with the GP to improve it, reducing side effects. She coordinates appointments, A&E, and hospital visits with calm efficiency. Her compassion, professionalism, and dedication have made a real difference and provided great peace of mind.

Flora is absolutely amazing, nothing is ever a bother , she knows what to do and when to do it without being told. Very caring and compassionate about her role and also an excellent cook . If you get the chance to have Flora in your lives grab it with both hands you won’t regret it

Flora assisted my husband and I during our visit to St Andrews on the occasion of a family wedding. He has Multiple Sclerosis since 2017 and suffered a Stroke in 2021. Flora was medically professional and organised, and with that support also patient, kind, and caring. During the wedding celebration Flora conversed with my husband during times I was otherwise occupied, and she was a popular in conversation with our guests from many countries. We could not have managed without her help!

Flora is kind and caring. She is diligent and adaptable in caring for my husband with late dementia and Parkinson's disease. Flora maintains a safe and clean environment. She is a hard worker and is keen to provide the best care she can by encouraging my husband to drink and take his medication. She makes delicious nutritious meals and was interesting to talk to as she has a wealth of knowledge and varied life experiences. She fitted into our home well.

I can highly recommend Flora, she has cared for my 94 year old Mother over the Christmas period, she has been extremely attentive, professional and caring to Mum's needs and wellbeing. I hope she will be able to care for Mum sometime in the future between her studying. Thank you Flora you are an amazing lady and we miss you already.

Flora worked as a live-in Carer for 11 weeks over 3 different time frames looking after our 92 year-old Mum, who suffers from a mild form of dementia and has mobility issues. I can recommend her for being very caring and attentive and she communicated well with my brother and me. She likes to keep the house nice and tidy and was happy to prepare fresh healthy meals for them both. Flora has a car and would take Mum out for visits which made her days more enjoyable. Mum enjoyed her company

Flora is an excellent carer and I would recommend her to anyone. Her greatest strengths are her cooking, housekeeping and organisational skills.

I can highly recommend Flora. Apart from being punctual, reliable and very capable she is friendly and thoughtful. She went out of her way to ensure my sister was put at ease and was comfortable.
