LS25 5NT 48828 To whom it may concern I am a retired businessman who is looking for a challenging and fulfilling role in companionship and/or caring. The thing that drives me most, is my passion for life, and my belief that, everyone should have the best quality at all times. I am used to dealing and communicating with people from many varied walks of life, and am told that my main strengths are my energy, dynamism and ability to make things happen. I am able to achieve this through hard work, humour, honesty and integrity. When I was a director/owner of a nursing home for the physically and mentally impaired for 3 years, I developed an empathetic and compassionate relationship with residents and staff, who trusted my confidentiality and discretion. We had many people with severe conditions such as Huntingtons disease, and I am glad to say, that I designed and had made, a special bed/sleeping arrangement which stopped them hurting themselves during the night or when they needed rest. Within my family, I have a sister in law who has multiple learning difficulties. This lady is now 67 and has been in my life for over 45 years. So I have seen first hand what quality of caret is needed to improve her life. She is now in a private house, where her life is substantially better because of the ability of her carers, and the variety of things they can do for her on a daily basis - days out, holidays etc. I have recently been involved as a volunteer treasurer at a nursery for children with multiple learning and disabilities, and again have seen at first hand what is needed to make their lives more fulfilling. Because of my varied career from engineering, business consultancy, through to finance, I have gained a great deal of experience from which to rely on. This means that I am comfortable with, and able to socialize and talk to, most people. Family and sport are my main interests, I love the outdoors and play indoor football and table tennis, and run, walk, or cycle regularly. Along with my wife of 45yrs, I have two daughters and four grandchildren who I love dearly. They take up a large part of my time, but it is a joy to be involved in their lives. I hope you find the above of interest. Thank you for your time. Regards, Alan

YO19 4QL 45063 I have over twenty five years experience of working with predominately hard to reach vulnerable children, young people, women and families. This has been mainly within a residential setting but also in the community. I have the ability to communicate with a diverse range of people in a variety of situations to include liaising with professional's and family members in an emphatic and non-judgemental manner. I taken the role of lead practitioner to ensure the safety and needs of the family are taken into consideration. I have acted as an advocate ensuring any gaps in provisions and services are identified and implemented. I understand the importance of information sharing this can be done during weekly team meetings and supervision where individual case's are discussed, good practice and any relevant training is identified. I am aware of the need to record information as accurately and concisely as possible in a variety of formats. I feel that I am motivated to work on my own initiative and also work well as a team member, adhering to policy and procedures at all times. I engage well with children and parents to build up a good rapport in order to gain their trust and confidence enabling them to discuss difficult issues. In the past I have organising contact and taken the role of supporting both children/young people and families to ensure a positive experience. Ensuring my availability before and after contact. I have co-facilitated issue based Group work on anti bullying, positive parenting and safety planning with both adults and children. I have also organised various activities and outings for the children and women. Working with this client group has enabled me to gain insight, knowledge and also given me numerous transferable skills which would assist me in the role of a support worker making me an asset to the team. I have more recently started working with older people and AWLD. I do this on a one to one basis and assist with daily tasks, cooking, cleaning, organising activities, attending appointments and companionship.
