"I have worked in care for the majority of my working life and the short time I wasn't working in care I was a customer service advisor. I've also been a respite carer for County Council for 18 years alongside my day jobs. I have worked in most areas of care and for the past nine years with complex clinical adults and children. I am a registered volunteer for the children's charity "Make a Wish" and for the past two years I have taken part in there DISNEY WISH event. I came runner up in Leicester Mercury palliative carer of the year in 2019 after being nominated by a family member of I lady I gave palliative care to. I have very good people skills, I'm calm and patient but am also bubbly and chatty. I'm trained in epilepsy, peg/NJ feeds, medication, rescue medication, airway management, suction, epilepsy, catheter care and challenging behaviour. I enjoy cooking all kinds of food but my speciality would have to be a Sunday roast or anything Italian. I love animals and I'm more than happy to work in a home that has pets. NVQ level 3 almost completed. "

"Hello! I was born in Malawi, Central Africa, lived in Zambia, Central Africa, schooled in Zambia and South Africa, and worked and lived in England since I was 19. After years of travelling back and forth to England from South Africa, I settled in the UK in 2014, taking up live in care work mainly in Gloucestershire. I’ve had the privilege of caring for wonderful clients, which has charged me with the ability to be compassionate, empathetic and professional. I have 10 years experience as a carer and I enjoy listening to stories from the elderly people, encouraging them to continue living as independently as they can, while living in their own homes, and happy to work at their own pace. I have experience in personal grooming and I enjoy helping clients look their best. I can assist with hygiene, toileting, eating, cooking, cleaning and any administrative tasks which need support. I have a full clean driving license and enjoy taking clients out to meet friends or just to go for a drive. I have worked with people with dementia, chronic conditions and I have provided end of life care. I provided care for stroke rehabilitation including encouraging client to mobilise as much as possible. I also have experience working with clients suffering from depression and anxiety. I have recently cared for a blind lady for the past 7 years. What a challenge and what a rewarding role it was. I enjoy the little things in life, whether it’s a coffee and cake outing with the client or a gentle amble around a lake, as well as taking in a good movie.
