I chose to become a carer because I’m deeply passionate about supporting adults with a range of needs, including those living with mental health challenges and dementia. My journey began with caring for my grandmother full-time for over five years, during which I gained invaluable hands-on experience and developed a strong understanding of compassionate, person-centered care. Prior to that, I also cared for my great-uncle during his end-of-life stage, which gave me early insight into the emotional and physical support people need during such sensitive times. Over the past five years, I have worked as a live-in carer through an agency and as an assistant carer. I am currently studying to become a nurse, which has deepened my knowledge and enhanced my clinical skills. My Key Responsibilities Have Included: Administering and prompting medication Supporting clients with dressing, washing, bathing, and all aspects of personal care, always maintaining dignity Assisting with continence care Observing and reporting any changes in mood, skin condition, or behavior to the care team Preparing meals and light housework duties Maintaining a clean, safe, and comfortable home environment Supporting service users with their morning and evening routines Completing detailed care plans to ensure tailored, quality care I am compassionate, reliable, and respectful of each individual's needs and preferences. I’m available most weekends and would love to support anyone in need of kind, professional care. Please feel free to get in touch if you're interested.
I recognise that the society is diverse which involves compromising of people and communities with a variety of different types of needs preferences. I have also worked with care homes supporting the elderly people in there own on homes, l also worked in care residential and supported living homes. l have built skills which l believe that will allow me to suitable for this role. I have my Higher Education Diploma in Healthcare Professionals which is the equivalent of a NVQ 3/4 and l have worked in live in care for 4 years. I’m a good listener and very respectful to others. l work following their care plans and putting them on top of their care. l also follow the company policies and procedures. l like to cook, singing, watching tv, shopping, dancing, drawing and baking.
My name is Ethel, I am an experienced, professional, and caring lady with over 20 years invested in the care and support of others. I did not intend to do live in care but repeated requests by clients and their families has led to me specialising in Live In and Domiciliary care for over 10 years. I still keep up to date with the practices in other sectors of the care sector, including nursing and care and care in the community, and still work in these environments. I have training and the practical experience in specialist areas, such as special needs, dementia, palliative care and others such as challenging behaviours, self-harm, violent outbursts, danger to the public and Autism and Down Syndromes. I believe we should all work together as it is only then we can create the type of world, most of us wish to live in. My personal life revolves around nay family, which takes up much of my free time, including my son and wife, Granddaughter, nephews, nieces, cousins, and of course my “aunties” and “uncles”, who still offer me advice on anything (or everything) except I am an “auntie” to a few, and am happy to give advice and guidance based on my own experience, life. Myself and a few other African ladies have formed a club and invest resources etc. to help and empower Africans mainly back in Southern Africa, but also abroad to succeed, especially women, and encourage them to do the same for others. I do not give my services lightly, but when I commit to something, I do it to the best of my ability utilising my experience and my upbringing that taught me that the greatest thing we can do is the care of others. Give me a call and we can discuss hours, rates, needs, wants, etc. Then give me a try, you won’t regret it.
I would describe myself as a friendly person and easy to get along with. In my spare time, I like to go to the gym and go on walks with my dog. I have over two years of care experience. I have worked with people with various mobility and health conditions. I have also provided end-of-life care and I have experience in personal care, using the correct equipment, preparing meals, and administering medication. I am flexible with my working hours and can do overnight stays as well as day and night shifts. I can drive and have my own car, and I’m happy to travel for live-in care roles across the UK. I also enjoy cooking and am happy to look after pets as part of my care duties.
