My journey began with caring for my grandmother full-time for over five years, during which I gained invaluable hands-on experience and developed a strong understanding of compassionate, person-centered care. Prior to that, I also cared for my great-uncle during his end-of-life stage, which gave me early insight into the emotional and physical support people need during such sensitive times.
Over the past five years, I have worked as a live-in carer through an agency and as an assistant carer. I am currently studying to become a nurse, which has deepened my knowledge and enhanced my clinical skills.
My Key Responsibilities Have Included:
Administering and prompting medication
Supporting clients with dressing, washing, bathing, and all aspects of personal care, always maintaining dignity
Assisting with continence care
Observing and reporting any changes in mood, skin condition, or behavior to the care team
Preparing meals and light housework duties
Maintaining a clean, safe, and comfortable home environment
Supporting service users with their morning and evening routines
Completing detailed care plans to ensure tailored, quality care
