I have been in care for 38 years. I enjoy working independently and taking responsibility, and am very confident. I look forward to overnight stays with continuity for both the client and I. Clients like continuity and feel confident with the same carer visiting. This is particularly important for dementia clients, building confidence and trust is important to me for patients. Covid vaccines are up to date, to put your mind at rest. jobs within the home I enjoy are as follows: cleaning, ironing, and washing if that is required through the night, Reading to the patient, and looking at and discussing photographs of vintage memories. I have hands-on experience with Stoma Care, Hoisting both with ceiling track and manual. Glide sheets, manual handling, repositioning, peg feeding, and pressure care experiences. Weekend work is no problem as I prefer weekends, am able to carry out overnight live in for Saturdays til Monday morning if needed, but I have no live in availability throughout the week. At 60 I finished a degree in Animal Sciences, and Animal Welfare and Management. I enjoy the company, caring and helping rescue, fundraising for good welfare of companion animals abroad. I have worked for Cats Protection with rehoming and home checks, along with animal welfare checking. I have a happy disposition, work out at the gym as a hobby, enjoy long walks with my own foreign rescue dogs. Have visited numerous foreign destinations. Have a positive outlook. Nothing really phases me with nursing and care and keep up with modern technology and medications. My experience started out as a live-in carer for a spinal injury care company. I also worked for a care agency, where I cared for a girl with disabilities, there was always 2 carers in this role and we took her to school, administered medication and checked blood and ketone levels. Within this agency, I covered many different care homes and agencies across Bristol. I also supported 2 ladies privately, both had a spinal injury, where I supported with personal care, using a catheter, cooking and a lot of driving. I like driving and I am a very careful driver, I can drive an automatic and a manual car. My preference is home care as I love seeing people so relaxed in their own home. I am also a complementary therapist, so naturally, I am a gentle caring person. I love working with all ages, but particularly fond of the elderly. I used to go into a few care homes in Bristol and offer mini treatments, this is at a dementia home and one of my friends who is like a grandma had dementia. I am a fantastic listener too! I started working in the community, doing home care, and afters I worked for a Rapid Response Rehab team-NHS. I have been working with adults with learning disabilities for over 5 years and I am also doing agency work. This gave me the opportunity to go to a lot of different places like care homes, hospitals, hospices. I have had the opportunity to work with a wide variety of people with very different conditions and needs, and also different ages from 12 years old to 105 years old. I consider myself a confident carer. I am very attentive to details, don't like jobs half done. I am driven and would like to think I am always doing the best that I can to look after people and make sure they are well looked after, safe and happy. I enjoy making a difference in their lives. I consider myself compassionate, kind, calm, warm, very caring and empathetic.
