I have been in the UK since 2006 and since have worked with people with different types of disabilities and older people providing care in their own homes. I feel absolutely passionate about caring for people (and animals) and it gives me great joy. I enjoy communicating with everyone and anyone, young or old, but could also be a great listening ear. Ticking off tasks, however big or small drives and motivates me and I am absolutely up for a challenge. It would be great to know where our interests and/or hobbies overlap or learn a new skill to enjoy with my clients. Spending time outdoors, staying fit and eating (and cooking) healthy is another of my key interest. Apart from doing care work, I work part time at a secondary school and coach triathlon voluntarily. I take pride in what I do and always put my best self forward. Thanks in advance. Hendrik

RG22 5LQ 290830 I'm a 65-year-old male carer, widowed and retired from a career in academia and business consulting, transitioning into care work in 2018. I have worked with a wide range of support needs, including Parkinson’s, stroke, COPD, MS, sepsis, dementia, spinal cord injury, heart surgery and general infirmity. I'm also the author of a nutrition guide and cookbook for carers. My service is highly personalised, with a focus on problem-solving and facilitating as high a quality of life as possible. Am I the right carer for you? To help you decide, you may like to know some specific details about what I can offer and how I work, such as: •  As a male carer, I can attend to all practical and personal needs of male service users. In the case of female service users, it wouldn’t be appropriate for me to provide intimate personal care. However, I’m happy to support ladies with all other needs such as moving and handling, nutrition, companionship and household support. •     I am passionate about preparing healthy, nutritious meals. We will discuss your personal preferences and specific dietary needs and develop a meal plan from there. •     Hoisting: If you require hoisting or other mechanical lifting aids, I can offer experience with a wide range of equipment. In the case of mobile floor-based hoists, safety regulations require that a second trained person is available to assist. This may be another care professional or a suitably trained family member or friend. •     Geographical coverage: I’m happy to support clients in most of England and Wales, up to about 300 miles from my home in the southeast. •     Driving: I have a clean driving licence and full business insurance, and drive a large vehicle in which wheelchairs can easily be carried. I’m more than happy to transport and accompany clients to appointments and social engagements (with the exception of religious services). Mileage is charged at £0.45 per mile for outings and travel between my home and the service user’s address. •     Pets: Unfortunately I am allergic to cats and therefore unable to work in households with them. Other species of pets are no problem. •     Smokers: On the topic of allergies, I’m also allergic to tobacco smoke and therefore unable to work in smokers’ households. •     Night support: If you require support at night, we can discuss the extent and nature of such support, as it may attract fees or a need for additional care personnel. •     How long will I be with you on any given occasion? The duration of support spells is always negotiable, depending on your requirements and my availability at the time.
