For the past 10 years, I have dedicated myself to caring for patients with dementia, cancer, heart conditions, and arthritis. My experience has equipped me with the skills and compassion needed to provide high-quality care. I prefer working night shifts, as it allows me to offer continuous support and ensure my patients’ comfort during the most vulnerable hours. My commitment to their well-being is unwavering, and I take pride in making a positive difference in their lives.
Business must adapt to a world where people are beginning to demand much more from it - where the pursuit of profit alone is no longer enough. I think to be a live-in carer is to be a very special person with zero tolerance of all forms of abuse, who is adequately trained, experienced for the task, passionate about providing high-quality, compassionate care, being a model of patience, decency and humanity. I am currently looking for my next live-in job and would be happy to bring my skills and dedication to a new role. During more than 20 years of working in the field of health and social care I have looked after different types of vulnerable people (couples as well as singles) with poor mobility, visual impairment, incontinence, and so on, who required my vigilant attention. But most of them were with dementia - a condition that affects much more than memory. It can reshape relationship, disrupt communication, it touches families, friends and entire communities. I experienced physical and verbal violence, aggression, was learning how to deal with their hallucinations, paranoid ideation…alongside with pharmacological interventions and some medication prescribed by doctors or mental health specialists I took appropriate actions by shaping targeted behaviour for them and guiding it into desired direction. Their day could start with the repetition of self lol-affirming statement: “Every day in every way, I am getting better and better!” Such self-affirmation played a significant role in lowering anxiety, decreased stress level, reduced depression or eased chronic pain level. At the same time some other duties which might reasonably be required were performed. Maintaining household to high standards of hygiene and never forgetting about their security I encouraged their independence and choice while respecting the right to privacy. The more you work for the same client the more you show your best side and develop your potential. Usually my employment for the same client lasts several years. I think this is a brilliantly rewarding job full of wonderful moments but due to the nature of the role, it also brings with it a lot of challenges. All who is involved in this area have to be flexible and adaptable to the ever changing needs of the client and their families. I consider myself an experienced, loyal and committed live-in carer who has all capabilities to provide a high standard of care to clients who need support to remain in their own homes.
