Attending University studying Community Health Care Studies and working in the industry equipped me with the skills and experience of working with different professionals within the multi-disciplinary teams in the care of patients. I have excellent team working skills and I am a calm person and I am able to handle difficult and challenging situations to which l can take appropriate measures. I have good listening skills, caring is my nature and I am non-judgmental. I started working in a care setting from 2010 until now. I have also volunteered in Drug and Alcohol Independence for 3 years whereby I used to facilitate the groups, one-to-one and home visits. I have worked in mental health with different conditions. I am a patient, trustworthy, reliable and honest team member who can challenge issues l believe should be challenged to improve performance. I am a mother of two boys, I know the importance of good hygiene, washing and making sure the client's personal care is done everyday and also allow them to take the lead in doing so as to not to take their independence away. l also know the importance of healthy eating, I am able to plan a healthy eating plan and cooking home cooked meals is not a problem.. I like to take walks for improved mental state and exercise. l also like watching football and listening to music. What l like to do is have respect between the whole team that l will be working with including the client and maintain team confidentiality however, I know there may be times where confidentiality should be broken for example when l suspect someone is abused etc.

I have been working in care for nearly 4 years. My most recent experience is working with the NHS Professionals as a Care Support Worker. I love taking care of people and spending time with them especially because personally, I have been a patient of care since birth due to health conditions so I know how people feel. My last treatment included a bone marrow transplant when I was 18. Due to this, I have been passionate to work in a care environment because of how good the care I received, I want to give back the amazing care whenever I get the opportunity. I have worked with patients all ages from newborn to elderly. I provide great care for my clients by involving them in daily activities in their own comfort way. I love to make daily activities fun by ensuring the client is fully involved on how their care is formed. I love reading, especially crime fiction novels. I am a good cook, It’s a massive part of my life since I live with 6+ people so i’m always trying out new recipes. Growing up with 2 brothers made me passionate about sport, I watch football and a true Manchester United fan. Hi my name is Gertrude, but I prefer to be called Trudy for short. Before starting a family I had 7 years experience as as carer. I learned that hard work, listening and empathy were important. The attributes grew on me when I was dealing with cases of dementia and other chronic conditions associated with advancing years. I believe patience and fully understanding a client's needs helps in providing a more comfortable life. I have experience in personal grooming, hygiene, dressing, toileting and cooking. I have missed working with the elderly and now my children are at University. I have the opportunity to return to caring. I enjoy history. current affairs, sewing, cooking and tending my small vegetable garden. I prefer to have my clients more mobile and do not require hoisting. As I do not drive I am looking for clients through out the day to have longer hours of 5/10 hours shifts or within travelling distance of Accrington. I can also do sleeping nights and I am flexible on what nights I work to fit in with the clients needs. I can also do part time live in positions ideally 3/days in row with 30 miles of Accrington, when doing live in I prefer to have my 2 hours break each day.
