I have worked with people from different backgrounds and with different conditions, without any problems. I easily warm up to my clients and they also warm up to me. I am very patient, clean and a very reliable person. I have more than 10yrs experience in care and can easily adapt to different environments.
I am very proactive, self motivated and a versatile individual with plenty of enthusiasm to further my knowledge and skills. I am very caring, compassionate, honest, reliable individual who loves to help other people. These my personal skills made me to go into care sector in 2017. I have been a care worker since then and I have also achieved more clinical skills. I have supported people with minor mental health issues in the community by giving them medication and also taking them to different activities to maintain their wellbeing. It has always been my passion to make a difference to someone’s life, promote their independence and support them to live a fulfilling life.
I was born in Kenya but have been living in the UK for over 20 years. I am a mum of two grown up boys and most of my family still live in Kenya and I go back once a year to visit them. I speak 3 languages, English, Swahili and Kikuyu which is my mother tongue. I have been a carer for the last 15 years working in nursing and residential homes, dementia units and mental health units and live-in care as well. I describe myself as caring, reliable, respectiful, understanding, non judgemental, professional and a good listener. I treat people with respect and dignity they deserve and it gives me great pleasure to know that I make a difference in someone's life and help them live a good and independent life. It is very inportant to understand individual needs which helps to build a good rappor with the client. I have worked for the NHS for the last 6 years and I have gained skills in different aspects working as part of a team and also working individually looking after people in the community. I am always willing to learn new things and also learn from my mistakes, I ask for help when I am not sure about something. Four years ago I went to college hoping to go to university to train as a midwife as I think it is a wonderful thing to see a new life begin, but as they say, life happened and I had to put that thought in the back seat but not forgotten, I never say never. I try to have a life/work balance so when not working I like visiting friends, watch movies, long walks and now I have developed an interest in motorcycles after being introduced by my partner, at the moment I am happy as pillion but will start riding lessons soon. I take life a day at a time.
With over a decade of experience in the health and social care sector, I am a dedicated and compassionate professional, committed to delivering high quality, person centred care. My background spans a variety of care environments including residential settings, hospitals and private homes. I have a high level of independence, initiative, emotional resilience, excellent organizational and communication skills which I apply to care planning, time management and client engagement. I am fully committed to ongoing professional development and adhere strictly to safeguarding, confidentiality and regulatory standards. My goal is to provide care that not only meets physical needs but also nurtures emotional wellbeing.
