Hello, I have been a care worker for the last 14 years. I have transport, am eligible to work in the UK (settled status). I have a vast amount of experience, mostly with dementia care, but also inclusive of Parkinson's, Diabetes, Stroke and end of life/palliative care. I am honest, a very good communicator, will always have the client's best interest at heart, diligent and very hygiene conscious. My philosophy is that, in as much as the customer needs to feel comfortable with me, so does the family - both are equally important. Hi there I’m Sheryl, I’ve worked with many patients/humans for many years the main learning was from my dear dad and bringing up my two not glued to the screen daughters my eldest is 17 very proud of them Both. I live on a farm for 12 years I keep ducks, chickens and have 5 cats, I love animals. I can do Many care needs and worked with hundreds of characters, health care and bring quality needs for personal Care, oral hygiene , skin integrity monitoring, stoma care, medication management, catheter care, equipment I.e sara steady, confidence and independence boosting if applicable. Personal assistant, light cleaning, meal supper, a listening ear. Rehabilitation, Anything just ask :) I’ve worked with the ambulance service and qualified as a emergency first responder, I also work with Reablement care in the community so am very used to many houses, talking to family and most importantly giving the best care I can give for all needs. respite care for the family and friends, taking on the role of Caring themselves that need that break to recharge your battery’s, I totally respect and feel this as I did myself with my own dad. Ive cared for patients with Parkinson’s, MSA, DND, stroke, catheter care, stoma care, medications, cancer, incontenance, mental health, ADHD, Bipolar, anxiety, depression, early and late stage dementia, long covid, dialyses patients to name a few or any that find everyday tasks a struggle such as hoovering, laundry, shopping. My story I have looked after my dear dad solo in 2022, I gave him everything he could possibly want or need as wished by him as he rightly deserved (he looked after me so it’s only right I am able to do the same) I gave him his medications, cooked for him, picked up prescriptions, guided him with his walker, to the toilet safely, then the commode in his room, when bed bound I gave him a shave to feel fresh, washed his body to feel fresh, dressed and undressed him, changed his adult Bed pads, stayed right next to him, read him story’s he read to me, like old fables, simple stories he read me. I stayed with dad overnight for 2 months in his room and watched him closely mostly at night to be sure he was safe as he had to have one leg out of the bed due to his bad leg which was tricky keeping him in his own bed with no hospital bed as it wasn’t workable in his case and also the medication he was on was very strong, i kept dad safe from any falls in the night and have no regrets with the care I gave dad, he said thank you for everything you do for me x I’d love to help you or your loved one have the same care and attention as my own dad, with upmost respect, stories read, help with crosswords, jigsaws, colouring books, watching period dramas or anything from the good old days, feeding, watering and watching the birds, I know exactly how you feel in these adapting times. My love and drive in this life is to help others, it always has been especially after looking after my Dad. I do have a nutritional background which has been a passion for the past 15 years and still ongoing alongside my ambulance care assistant and community carer. I have been living permanently in England since 2000. I have a pharmacology background studying in South Africa and when arriving in England I went into the NHS as a medical secretary PA. I worked 7 years in private and NHS hospitals, clinics and GP practices, covering very many medical disciplines including cardiology and oncology to name a few. I moved to Cornwall in 2007 and started caring in 2009 to complete my NVQ in Health and Social Care and have been a live-in carer since 2010. I am willing with a can-do attitude, trustworthy and reliable, very well organised and I enjoy working as a live-in carer giving undivided client centred attention. I have one grown up daughter and we both live in Cornwall. I enjoy going for walks in forests or coastal paths, visiting gardens and homes. I love birdwatching on my walks. I love cooking and baking but nothing fancy or exotic. I am proficient in cooking a vegetarian diet if needs be too.
