I have acquired a wealth of experience working in social care through placements and working as a care assistant. I have good interpersonal skills that are very helpful in developing relationships and better delivery of support. My first caring job was caring for my own child and this developed my caring skills for other people, then worked with a couple as a live in carer. The wife had poor mobility and was very frail and needed support with personal hygiene. The husband suffered with dementia however, he was managing his personal care and required to be reminded to attend to hospital appointments due to the impact of dementia. I moved on and worked with adults 18-65 years suffering with mental health problems. It was a rehabilitation centre where clients were supported with skills of carrying out activities of daily living. When an individual has been in hospital with enduring mental health issues, some tend to lose their day to day functioning. My contract ended and moved on to work in an inpatient environment (hospital for over ten years) where I assisted patients with their daily living skills alongside qualified nurses to deliver effective care patients. This included carrying general observations and reporting to qualified staff registered nurses recording relevant information about patients and promoting continuation of care. During my working life in a inpatient hospital, I applied to train as a social worker to improve my skills and make a difference in people's live by supporting them through difficulty times, advocating and fighting on their behalf injustices they faced in their lives. During my course , I continued working part time with vulnerable adults. I am currently working with adults with mental health conditions supporting them with arranging packages of care, safeguarding them from possible harm and making sure they have suitable accommodation. I have no experience with catheter care, stoma, peg feeds and hoisting but I am willing to learn to provide the best care for an individual whom I will be caring for. I have a passion for cooking and got a distinction on Food and Nutrition on my GSCE's. I have knowledge of adults' eating a healthy balanced diet which is important part for maintaining good health. I am happy to cook the food preferred by an individuals according to their tastes. I have a good sense of humour and able to take things lightly in effect making people comfortable in what could be unpleasant or stressful moments. I have found out that it has a positive effect on some individuals. I don't smoke and unable to work in a household with animals due to impact animals have on my partner's asthma. My rates are negotiable depending on the care needs of that that particular individual. I am a driver but only comfortable to drive my own car. I would prefer 2 weeks on and one week off or weekend only live in vacancies.
I have worked as a Carer for the last 10 years also caring for my late grand mother who latterly suffered with dementia. During this time I have learnt a tremendous amount and added to my skill set. I have cared for the elderly along with people with special needs. I have in particular enjoyed working with older people as they have talked about history and their life experiences which I find fascinating. I like to clarify what my individual client needs are on a regular basis, as I find needs can change. I have experience in personal hygiene ,incontinence issues, , general housekeeping , I have good communication skills , I have enjoyed interactions with a variety of people with varying needs .I consider myself to be a practical person , I have learnt massage for relaxation which has been of benefit to clients, I am warm , willing , reliable and respectful. I Respect boundaries and confidentiality . I am always willing to learn and embrace new challenges. In my own time my interests are enjoying walks in nature, reading although this can at times be challenging , I have a gold fish pond with 7adults and 4 babies whom I enjoy . I am the mother of 2 young men who are both at university. Gaining their independence. I am blessed with ability to tune into my clients needs and wants. I have a passion for helping those in need that make real difference in their life. I have a good sense of humour.

I have worked with children, adults of working age and older adults. I have excellent report writing and recording skills and I work collaboratively in a multidisciplinary settling. I can support an individual to access their personal interests and care needs in the community safely. My approach towards care is to advocate for the individual I care for. In addition, I enjoy travelling, cooking, cleaning, shopping and watching movies Although I have no experience in looking after pets such as dogs and cats, I don’t mind working in an environment where there are some.I can support individuals to achieve their goals in their activities of daily living.. I respect individuals' spiritual needs and sexual orientation. I am willing to learn new things from the individuals I provide care for. As a registered nurse I will provide professional care while working within the scope of my job role as a carer.
