I have 5 years' experience as a carer. I have 9 months' experience as a live-in carer for an elderly lady with dementia and psychosis. I have also worked as a carer in the local community for East Dunbartonshire Council, where I gained experience of caring for clients with a wide and diverse range of needs. I provided personal care, prepared meals, prompted/assisted with medication, and also loved being a companion to my clients. Since then, I have worked as a companion/carer with clients with early stage dementia, a client who's suffered a stroke, and a client with a heart condition. In addition to this, I've worked as a Music Therapist for adults with learning disabilities, and children with special needs for 18 years. I have completed training in moving and handling. I also have 30 years driving experience, with my own car, clean driver's licence, and some experience of driving a mobility van. As a committed Christian, I'm also more than happy to take/accompany people to services/Mass. I love people, and have a kind and compassionate nature. I also love pets! I can bring music, song and a variety of instruments into my care work, as a fun extra way of connecting with the people I support. I enjoy cooking, driving, taking clients out on excursions, and supporting a person's ability to make their own choices, and independence. I also thoroughly enjoy languages, and am more than ready to try and pick up another language, in order to communicate with my client, if necessary. I love connecting/learning from people of other cultures, faiths, and backgrounds.. Gardening is a passion of mine, and I also enjoy cooking, nature, walking, cycling, and the arts. I am friendly, courteous, respectful, honest, and discreet. My aim is to support each client to reach their fullest potential, and happiness.
I’ve primarily worked with adults (18+) providing a range of care duties since 2005. My previous work covers adult disability fostering services, respite services, community support work, and supported living, including waken and sleeping nights. I live in the north side of Glasgow, however I cover all areas of Glasgow and surrounding. I am a business insured driver and have use of my own car, I also on occasion drive clients cars as requested. I currently work in partnership with a major care provider in Glasgow on a self-employed basis and provide bank work to others as required. I’m fully upto date with all my training, PVG and SSSC registered. I’m currently studying my social work degree which I do in my spare time. I treat everyone I meet with dignity and respect as well as maintaining client confidentiality. I wear visible ID when out and about where a risk maybe presented to myself or the person I’m supporting while respecting the clients right to privacy where possible. I have recently supported Individuals in a range of activities including: • befriending and companionship services, • support in the home, cooking & cleaning etc, • support with medical/health & personal appointments, • provided befriending to individuals in hospitals, • support to the gym, swimming, sauna & massage, • support in shopping, eating out and visits to the pub, • support in trips to museums, zoos, cinemas & sport, • supported in sourcing community groups & clubs, • supporting younger people to school or college, • supported in holidays, short breaks & family visits • support in attending, weddings, funerals & family events, • supporting individuals to meet their religious needs, • provided support in transition of care, moving etc… I hope this gives you a good idea of my experience and willingness to support. My hourly rate is a reflection of the professional service that I provide as a private carer. I am generally very busy with a full client base and waiting list, however, care requirements for many clients change frequently so please check with me on my current availability. Should you have any questions then please feel free to reach out to me through the Curam Platform.

I have worked as a mental health nurse for 9 years, I am now at a stage in my caring profession where I would like to care for people in their own homes and surroundings. I feel this is more beneficial for them and their families. I enjoy knowing that I have helped the person to get as much out of their day as they possibly can. I enjoy listening to people and hearing all about their life stories and personal experiences. I make sure the days or nights are all about them, whether this is listening to their choice of music or films if they want to do so. I try to encourage therapeutic engagements to help pass their time and allow them to think about things. I do everything that is in the best interest for the person I am with, even if this means sitting in silence. I also enjoy walking therefore being on my feet for most of the day will not be an issue, whether this is going on walks or just being beside the person if this is to reduce any risks of them falling over or losing their balance. I feel my services would be a great asset to who ever I am with as I make sure it is all about them.
