"My name is Nikky. I am a mother of three children and a grandmother of two. I worked for the NHS for 20 years as a Band 4 Health Care Assistant, looking after older people, especially those living with dementia, as well as individuals with learning and physical disabilities. I now work as a live-in carer/Personal Assistant while still covering bank shifts for the NHS. I have experience in hoisting and medication support. I have collaborated with doctors and social workers to carry out assessments for patients. I absolutely love what I do—looking after people who need my support. I assist them with their day-to-day activities, including washing, toileting, meal preparation, feeding, making beds, cooking, domestic tasks, medication, administration, taking them to appointments/social activities, and running general errands. I am a quick learner, which helps me settle into my live-in roles quickly. I use a person-centred approach with my clients and relate well with families, as I am a good team player. I am friendly, reliable, trustworthy, and empathetic. I drive and travel for live-in work throughout the UK, provided that travel expenses are covered both ways by my clients. I do not use my own car for transporting clients; however, I am happy and able to drive automatic cars, as long as I am covered under the client’s car insurance. I am able to cover public holidays at a rate of double time. I am looking for regular clients that I can return to on a rotation. I normally have a settling-in period of one to two weeks, after which I can discuss with the client or their family members the call periods I can safely deliver.
