I have always been a carer, having worked in the nursing home for 9 years. I have looked after elderly people with learning, physical, mental disabilities and supported them with their daily needs such as assisting them in and out of bed, personal care, eating and drinking, medication, escorting them to the hospital, and making sure their environment is safe from any hazards. I also do work closely with multidisciplinary team such as nurses and Doctors as well as with families and friends to ensure the people we are supporting are receiving the best care possible. I have obtained NVQ Levels 2 and 3 in Health and Social Care that enabled me to have a necessary skills to do my job effectively, safely and efficiently. Having empathy and sensitive to care, that encouraged me to apply for this job, being able to understand their emotions, and what they are going through, and feeling their pain. Another skill I have learned over the years is communication. I have ability to communicate at all levels to ensure the needs of the people being supported are met and understood by everyone involved including the person being supported. I do like cooking, and travelling. I am also interested in other people's cultures.
