My experience started out as a live-in carer for a spinal injury care company. I also worked for a care agency, where I cared for a girl with disabilities, there was always 2 carers in this role and we took her to school, administered medication and checked blood and ketone levels. Within this agency, I covered many different care homes and agencies across Bristol. I also supported 2 ladies privately, both had a spinal injury, where I supported with personal care, using a catheter, cooking and a lot of driving. I like driving and I am a very careful driver, I can drive an automatic and a manual car. My preference is home care as I love seeing people so relaxed in their own home. I am also a complementary therapist, so naturally, I am a gentle caring person. I love working with all ages, but particularly fond of the elderly. I used to go into a few care homes in Bristol and offer mini treatments, this is at a dementia home and one of my friends who is like a grandma had dementia. I am a fantastic listener too! I have a happy disposition, work out at the gym as a hobby, enjoy long walks with my own foreign rescue dogs. Have visited numerous foreign destinations. Have a positive outlook. Nothing really phases me with nursing and care and keep up with modern technology and medications. I give 100% to my patients and can bring new ideas to family with nursing technics, only if asked for. Over the years I have worked with Dementia although this is demanding keeping calm, defusing situations Is usually the best way, every situation is different, every person individual. There are some very unfair diseases out there, and each one of us is left to cope with what we are given. My clients were all of different ages and had individual care needs. My experience has been with dementia, long-term illnesses, mental health conditions and physical disabilities, and a lot of domiciliary care. I am a caring kind individual and believe good communication skills go a long way. I also have palliative care experience, I understand how being a full time carer can have an impact on someone life. I had been a foster carer for several years and my most recent job is working in a specialist school for children with complex needs. I have been told I have a calming voice, caring nature and a non-judgemental attitude. It's not often you don't see a smile on my face, I always try to turn the negative into a positive. What I enjoy most about my job is what I learn from those I care for.
