"My name is Sevinc, and caring for people has been at the heart of my life and career for many years. I have over 17 years of experience in healthcare, having started my journey as a nurse in 2003 after graduating from the Nursing Department of High School. I also hold a university degree in Health Management, a Pathology Laboratory Technician diploma, and several vocational certificates. Before moving to the UK, I worked in a university teaching and research hospital across multiple departments, including seven years in Intensive Care and ten years as a theatre nurse. These years taught me not only strong clinical skills but also patience, compassion, and the importance of treating every person with dignity and respect. For the past five years in the UK, I have been working as a professional carer, supporting elderly people and individuals with a wide range of care needs, including dementia and Alzheimer’s care, palliative care, post-operative support, and paraplegic care (including hoist use). I am truly passionate about helping people feel safe, comfortable, and valued in their own homes. I provide personalised, flexible care and companionship, always adapting my support to each individual’s needs, routines, and preferences. My aim is to help my clients live with as much independence, happiness, and peace of mind as possible. "I am a very hard-working individual with the ability to work collaboratively with other people and healthcare professionals when necessary. I can also work independently and use my initiative, striving to deliver the highest standards of care for the patients and individuals I support. I am more than happy to work alongside others if it is in the best interest of the person I care for. Effective communication is key in my role; good communication and a better understanding help create a positive working environment, which in turn fosters a good caring atmosphere for us all. It is very important to me to be reliable so that I do not let the patients I look after down. I understand the importance of using my initiative when caring for others. I can be flexible and help out on short notice, and if I identify a concern, I would raise it immediately and, with the patient's consent, take further measures to resolve any difficulties that arise, including unforeseen circumstances related to the care plan. I hold numerous up-to-date training certificates in care. I am also flexible and sometimes do night shifts to assist as needed. If I notice that a patient is unwell, I will, with the patient's consent, seek further medical advice and document everything as it happens. I have the ability to attend to the personal care needs of service users. Over the past 20 years, I have been employed in various care roles. I have worked in both residential care homes and supported living facilities. These roles have included providing personal care for service users, as well as feeding, cooking, cleaning, administering medication, and planning and conducting activities. I treat all service users with kindness, respect, and dignity, striving to allow them as much control over their daily lives as possible. I collaborate with them to create activity plans so that they can enjoy their days and, where possible, maintain their independence. As part of my caregiving roles, I have needed to keep daily written reports of the activities undertaken with service users, as well as report any incidents. It is essential that these reports are clear so that the managers of the units can act on them. It is also very important to maintain accurate records regarding medication or illness so that the next caregiver knows what the service user has taken and what they still need. This is often a part of my daily routine. I am sociable and talkative, allowing me to connect with service users with a range of needs and interests. Some service users do not speak English as their first language, so I must communicate slowly and clearly and be patient to ensure they understand what is happening. Because I have needed to administer medicine to some service users, it is vital that I can follow written guidelines. I have also adhered to written instructions for various tasks, such as cooking and activities, and I have utilised good manual handling techniques that I have been trained in to manage some challenging behaviours. I am also proficient at following verbal instructions, for example, from service users who can explain how they prefer things to be done. I have a willingness to learn and adapt to change. I have held various jobs in different types of settings, including residential care homes and supported living accommodation. I have successfully adapted by learning how things are done in each place I have worked. I enjoy discovering new environments and getting to know new service users, which aids my adaptability. Additionally, having moved countries 10 years ago, I learned how to live in a new culture, which has greatly enhanced my ability to adapt to change. I have the ability to relate to people of all ages, including those with mental health needs and/or challenging behaviour. My experience working in shops as well as care homes has equipped me with strong customer service skills, enabling me to engage with a diverse range of individuals. In one residential unit I worked in, I supported people with mental health needs, and I received training to work with individuals with various conditions. I am compassionate and enjoy meeting and assisting all kinds of people. I understand that each person has their own unique needs; some require more support and structure than others. I respect people's wishes, irrespective of their age or background. I excel at putting people at ease so they can express their feelings, and I approach those with challenging behaviour with confidence, using the training I have received."
