In my time with the agency I gained experience working with MND, learning disabilities, Parkinsons, stroke, catheter care and late-stage dementia, among others. In May 2022 my friend had a stroke and I was invited by her family to move in and help her to recover. I lived with her as a carer and a friend until June 2023 when she sadly passed away. Since my friend's passing I have worked with a variety of clients through Curam, as well as with a private client from October until March this year. Up to this point my references have been uniformly positive. I have two 'Excellent' recommendations on Curam. I would describe myself as independent, conscientious and an organiser. If your environment is very cluttered or disorganised, this would need to be sorted out before I can start working with you. I have my own car and am happy to travel anywhere in the country for the right position. I do not charge clients for travel to or from placements. However, I never left, for me it became more than a job, I loved my clients and the role, it all flowed naturally for me. I started off in residential care and then went onto a nursing home and lastly community care. This has given me a vast wealth of knowledge and experience. I think the main area I have the most experience in is ladies with dementia. I was complimented by the families in managing to assist their parents to take showers and eat etc. I have a good sense of humour and a diligent easy going personality. Im also very compassionate and understanding/receptive to others needs. I have travelled a little in my earlier days which i enjoyed. I also like to read, meditate.
