I took voluntary redundancy after 20 years and started running my own business, as well as volunteering as an art therapist at Teesside Hospice. I then went to Australia for 5 years, where I helped a friend with Quadriplegia achieve his objectives and travel around Europe. I came back to the UK in April 2021 and took up a position as a live-in carer in Wiltshire for 18months. After this I became a Personal Assistant and carer for a paraplegic gentleman in Northampton. I'm trained in manual evacuation, sterile changing of dressings, care of suprapubic and lifting and handling. I would now prefer to work within a couple of hours' drive from home in Durham or York. Any client will find me friendly, reliable, honest, and caring. My aim is to care for a person in the same way I would like to be cared for when it's my turn. I have a holistic approach to my work. I can cook meals from around the world but also very happy and able to turn out simple tasty British cuisine. I have my own car and a clean driving licence. My enhanced DBS is up to date, too. I enjoy outings with clients, I love all animals and I'm happy to help with them also. Cats, dogs, ferrets, snakes, spiders which a lot don't offer. I am an open book when it comes my personality. I integrate to the environments easily. I drive and have 5 years experience with vans. Clean licence. Can provide reference if needed. Keep smiling. I am currently looking for clients that are more mobile and do not require hoisting as I currently do not hold the qualification even though I have 5 years experience with hoists, ventilators, nebulisers using them regularly. Looking for clients within a 20 mile radius however this can be discussed for the right clients, I am flexible. My desired working days are weekdays.
