LA23 3ET 285559 As I started to wind down my career, I worked as a relief chef, and spent time, sometimes as much as six months in the kitchens of schools. Also worked at a at a College, as an In-Class assistant working with special needs students. I have lived in the central English Lake District for over 40 years. Some may call it paradise, but with over a million visitors each year , some 200 yards from home, it has its moments. 8.00pm is so different to High Noon! To relax, I enjoy walking Sky, who is a Therapy Dog with the national charity Therapy Dogs Nationwide (TDN) in this amazing area, in the woods just over a mile away, which she loves it, as it a world away from the chaos of the village. I have a Lowrey Grand Marquee electronic organ, which is top of the range. More whistles, buttons and sounds than you can play. Very rewarding. My audience usually puts her head between her paws and goes to sleep, it is so relaxing. Having retired from an active hospitality role, I started with a company, part of the Health and Social Care umbrella and have had a 24/7 client who is a young autistic gentleman since 2019. He is shortly moving on a permanent basis to start his 2nd year at the University . The achievements with him have been outstanding, as many never imagined that he would achieve a university education. I also have had day respite “clients”, one of whom had Dementia. I have held enhanced DBSs since 2004, 1 1 {"field_week_day_first":1,"field_is_available_first":"1","field_care_type_first":"1, 3","field_week_day_second":2,"field_is_available_second":"1","field_care_type_second":"1, 3","field_week_day_third":3,"field_is_available_third":"1","field_care_type_third":"1, 3","field_week_day_fourth":4,"field_is_available_fourth":"1","field_care_type_fourth":"1, 3","field_week_day_fifth":5,"field_is_available_fifth":"1","field_care_type_fifth":"1, 3","field_week_day_sixth":6,"field_is_available_six":"1","field_care_type_sixth":"1, 3","field_week_day_seven":7,"field_is_available_seven":"1","field_care_type_seven":"1, 3"}

CA11 7AJ 272196 I’m an easy going individual, very patient, strong and kind. I became a carer because my grandmother had early onset Alzheimer’s and I learnt so much through watching and helping my mother as her primary carer, especially what an important role a carer is to someone. Caring has always come very naturally to me and I believe it’s so important to be able to help one another in this life wherever we can. I am from Zimbabwe but have been working in care for seven years in the UK though an agency and the majority of the time privately in London however now I am living in Penrith and I look forward to working around Cumbria. I love getting to know people and helping however I can. 1 1 {"field_week_day_first":1,"field_is_available_first":"0","field_care_type_first":null,"field_week_day_second":2,"field_is_available_second":"1","field_care_type_second":"1, 4, 5","field_week_day_third":3,"field_is_available_third":"1","field_care_type_third":"1, 4, 5","field_week_day_fourth":4,"field_is_available_fourth":"1","field_care_type_fourth":"1, 4, 5","field_week_day_fifth":5,"field_is_available_fifth":"1","field_care_type_fifth":"1, 4, 5","field_week_day_sixth":6,"field_is_available_six":"1","field_care_type_sixth":"1, 4, 5","field_week_day_seven":7,"field_is_available_seven":"0","field_care_type_seven":null}

FY6 9EB 56776 Over the last two years I have worked as a live-in-carer. Prior to this, a support worker and I have also previously worked at various care homes (through an agency) and clinical placements whilst qualifying for my HND in adult nursing back in 2011. My first live-in care was for a couple that had not previously had a live-in carer, both were initially very against the idea, not understanding why suddenly they needed to have a stranger living in their home. Although initially a challenge, I managed to quickly put them at ease by reassuring them that I was there to keep them safe and secure in their own home and assist and enable them to maintain their normal routine and lifestyle as much as possible, to be a companion, but also to help them remain independent in their own home and cherish all the memories they’ve made there. I built up a great relationship with both them and their family andI cared for them for a year. Skills and Experience • Empathy, patience and compassion towards others • Personal care, assisting with shower, drying, dressing, shaving etc whilst also respecting their dignity and maintaining their independence where possible. • Monitoring pressure points and pressure care • Helping with mobility, prompting using walking aids where necessary or using hoists • Overseeing medication according to the care plan • Household chores helping around the home, such as vacuuming, cleaning and laundry • Preparing and cooking meals of client’s choice • Running errands and assisting with tasks such as shopping • Updating care plans, reviewing and record keeping • Reporting important details to colleagues to ensure a safe and up to date care for client • Preparing for social outings • Liaising with family, district nurses, Drs and other healthcare professionals • Keeping the home environment safe and secure • Keeping up to date with the Care Certificate modules which cover 15 modules including Basic Life Skills, Moving and Handling and Medication About Me I enjoy driving up to the Lakes and taking the dog for long walks up in the Hills and recently started to do some of the Wainright walks. I absolutely adore all creatures great and small. Although have had cats most of my life I now have a black miniature cockapoo, 15 months old called Kip. He stays with my parents when I am working although I have taken him to work with one of my clients as he loves dogs and requested I bring him along too. I found it actually helped uplift his spirits so it worked well. I also love cooking and experimenting with new healthy ideas and recipes and I can loose myself in painting seascapes, animals, portraits and abstract when I have some spare time. For live in care I prefer to work one week on, one week off, mainly because I don’t like to be apart from my dog for too long. However if a client is a big animal lover and doesn’t mind me bringing him along I would consider working longer. 0 2 {"field_week_day_first":1,"field_is_available_first":false,"field_care_type_first":"","field_week_day_second":2,"field_is_available_second":false,"field_care_type_second":"","field_week_day_third":3,"field_is_available_third":false,"field_care_type_third":"","field_week_day_fourth":4,"field_is_available_fourth":false,"field_care_type_fourth":"","field_week_day_fifth":5,"field_is_available_fifth":false,"field_care_type_fifth":"","field_week_day_sixth":6,"field_is_available_six":false,"field_care_type_sixth":"","field_week_day_seven":7,"field_is_available_seven":false,"field_care_type_seven":""}
