I enjoy working in care because of the constantly evolving challenge of providing a high quality service and the satisfaction of working with amazing individuals to help them continue to lead lives they love. Above all, I love being able to bring hope and support in the face of circumstances that can feel overwhelming. Everyone is different and finding the right care is an extremely personal choice.     "Before working in care and while raising a family, I worked mainly in office based jobs. In my own time I supported an elderly neighbour with light housework, gardening, walking her little companion dog, accessing the community, or just called in for a cup of tea and a chat. I also supported a friend who was a wheelchair user and accompanied him to fundraising and social events. Since my children have now all flown the nest, I have pursued my passion to work in care. I have worked previously as a rehabilitation support worker for people who have ABI (acquired brain injury}, and was working on an employed basis for the elderly in a care home setting for over two and a half years before going back to one-to-one support for individuals with ABI. I love to get to know the individuals I support and care for as this allows me to provide 'person centered' care in the true sense, and gain a deeper understanding of an individuals care needs. When I hear from residents or clients that I care for that "It is nice to receive care from someone who really cares', it just melts my heart and fills me with pride and fulfillment in what I do. I love animals and understand and appreciate how important companion animals can be, I know how important my dog is to my own happiness and wellbeing. I have a genuine interest in people, their welfare and dignity, and with a wide variety of interests I am usually able to find something to connect on some level with people from all walks of life.
