I have been a carer from 2015 till now. I also worked as a volunteer with an orphanage charity in Africa when I was younger. Looking after people has always been a pleasure for me, there is no such a good thing than seeing that you are impacted positively people life. I used to look after a young adult for 6 years, he had cerebral palsy and my duties and responsibilities involved medical administration, personal care, cleaning his mickey button, set up his peg, outdoor activities( shopping, pottery class, cookery class, travel by car to see extended family etc). In addition I worked with brain injury people where my duties involved bowel managment, Tracheostomy care, physiotherapy and many more. My motto is always to try to put smile on people face it's not always easy but it's possible.

I have worked in the social field for a number of years working with social services as a senior family support worker and also in residential children’s homes and of late caring and looking after adults. I have a good awareness of all cultural multiplicities within society and the need to be non-judgmental and anti-oppressive. I am aware of the need to continually question my work so that if necessary challenge discriminatory behaviour from either services users or colleague alike. Throughout my career I have worked with children and families and the last 4 years with adults as well. I find I work well with them and especially the older generation. it has been rewarding working with people of all ages. I have also demonstrated in my current role as an education practitioner and an adult carer that I have gained specific skills from working with them. I maintain relationships and companionships with them and ultimately I want the best possible outcome for them. I am a dedicated hard-working individual and a results driven person with the background experience of working within a social work environment and also a residential setting. I have done this for a considerable amount of years now and I believe I have gained a vast amount of experience in this field. I am a very professional individual who is always willing to take on board advice from senior members of staff and implement where necessary. Furthermore, I have recently completed various other training programs such as, child protection training, lone working training, culture and diversity training. Child sexual exploitation training, an introduction to the Autism Spectrum, Awareness of child abuse, and neglect, Multi agency working training, food safety and hygiene, fire safety, GDPR, safe guarding level 3-4, medication Advance and also first aid training to name but a few. I believe i have to tools in my armoury to do this job, as a have a wealth of hands on experience as well. Spending the day with would be a really lovely experience and fun at the same time. I have a fantastic sense of humour, which I think is important. To conclude; I enjoy working in a social field environment and hope that my input can make a positive change to anyone that I may come across. Just to add to the above when I’m not working, I enjoy a variety of things such as cooking, especially barbecuing and smoking. I also enjoy going to the movies as well as watching films at home. I also enjoy stand-up comedy as well as documentaries. I also love gardening and spending time with my children and grandchildren.
