I have about 4 years experience as a carer but it seems to me like I've been a carer for a lifetime because I'm so passionate about caring for the elderly. I enjoy listening to older people, I am a very patient person and am always happy to work at my clients' pace, following their lead. I have worked in end of life care, people living with dementia, stroke, etc. Helping to make clients comfortable at home as a live-in carer. My journey into healthcare is deeply personal. When my first child was diagnosed with delayed speech back home where there were no local services ,I refused to give up. Each time I travelled to the U.S. to seek therapy for him, I studied and practised speech therapy techniques myself. Back home, I became his therapist, advocate, and full-time carer. Through love, faith, and determination, my once non-verbal son is now 17, in college, full time education ,verbal, independent, and thriving. That experience opened my heart to care and I have carried that same passion into my professional life. This experience motivated me to work for Kennyskids and Services Limited. This is a Center that focused on kids with special needs. I was opportune to focus on sourcing for therapy materials, coordinating speech assessment for the kids as well as counselling families. The above experience taught me good communication skills, excellent interpersonal skills, excellent time management skills, flexibility and being responsible, positivity, enthusiasm, professionalism , IT competency as well as team work. Today, I bring both lived and professional experience into every healthcare role I take. I currently work as a Complex Care Healthcare Assistant, and have also served as a Support Worker, Mental Health Support Worker, and SEN Teaching Assistant. I’ve supported people with a wide range of complex needs learning disabilities, autism, mental health challenges, and physical impairments with patience, empathy, and professionalism. My academic background in Business Management (MBA) and Marketing (2:1) strengthens my organisation, communication, and teamwork. As a mother, I understand the emotional weight families carry. I have been a carer from 2015 till now. I also worked as a volunteer with an orphanage charity in Africa when I was younger. Looking after people has always been a pleasure for me, there is no such a good thing than seeing that you are impacted positively people life. I used to look after a young adult for 6 years, he had cerebral palsy and my duties and responsibilities involved medical administration, personal care, cleaning his mickey button, set up his peg, outdoor activities( shopping, pottery class, cookery class, travel by car to see extended family etc). In addition I worked with brain injury people where my duties involved bowel managment, Tracheostomy care, physiotherapy and many more. My motto is always to try to put smile on people face it's not always easy but it's possible.
