I love looking after people and bringing a smile to their face, making them feel that they are supported, their dignity is maintained and they are as independent as possible while being safe and having their needs met. I am a very experienced carer. Excellent command of English as my first language, albeit with a South African accent, which I haven't lost, despite being back in the UK for 20 years! I've been involved in caring in a number of ways for 10 years. During this time I have looked after people from birth to over 100 years old, the oldest being 103, all with a variety of challenges, disabilities, personal quirks and individual requirements. I was a foster carer for children with global development delay, autism, blindness, learning difficulty as well as those suffering from neglect, abuse and trauma. I went on to do live in-care and have experience in advanced dementia, Parkinson's and Alzheimer's, I also looked after a lady with paralysis from her neck down. I was involved in rehabilitation at a private hospital for those with brain injury and more recently did domiciliary care and worked in an upmarket residential home for assisted living. I am punctual, reliable, honest, caring, patient, calm and respectful. I can cook, have a good understanding of nutrition, allergy requirements and dietary needs. I'd love to hear from you to see whether we can work together!
