I'm calm, compassionate and resourceful. I am easy to get along with, speak clearly and am friendly and kind. I studied psychology and I am passionate about wellbeing. I was in teaching and training before becoming a carer. I have worked with clients with advanced conditions including clients with Alzheimer's, Dementia and Stroke. I have a special interest in mental health and wellbeing. I love art, technology, reading, swimming, travel, understanding people and learning new things.
My interest in applying for the position of Live-in Carer/Support Worker is largely influenced by the passion I have developed over the years in wanting to make a difference in the lives of the individuals I care for. I assist and support my clients with their activities of daily living e.g. washing/bath, dressing, management of medication and finances, shopping, good cooking, outings and general household duties. I offer clients personal care and always make it a point to respect their dignity. I also work according to the care plan and to empower clients with making choices. My roles also require me to apply my knowledge and computer skills to search for adequate information in local community or either at the library or online to pursue leisure interests and to help rebuild the individuals social life. I have demonstrated this over time that I am able to transfer previous learnt knowledge and skills to my current situation to the benefit of the client. I believe I have effective communication skills in that I am able to maintain individuals records, record day to day financial transactions and maintain health and safety records. I have also learnt to maintain a safe and healthy physical environment and to respond to health and safety issues. I am confident in joint working with the family of individuals, doctors and allied health profession and I am competent in following decisions regarding the clients health care through on a daily basis. My positive outlook on life and general friendly personality make it easy for me to get along with colleagues and clients and I am able to build meaningful rapport and relationships to ensure an improvement of my clients quality of life. I am independent, organised, confident, compassionate, responsible and can be relied upon to do the job effectively. I have undergone an induction programme with The Health and Safety Group which include Manual Handling, Fire, Basic Life Support, Infection Control, Food and Safety, Intro to POVA ongoing, and I have found it to be very helpful to my work. I am willing to learn and develop myself by doing the induction, and to attend regular in-house training programmes, enrolling for all the relevant courses. I am a driver (automatic) During my spare time I love to attend church, watch TV, Cooking, Walking, Reading, Shopping and meeting up with friends for meals or coffee
