I have over 12 years experience working in the community as an advocate for vulnerable and elderly adults and caring for their well being making sure that they are stay healthy, safe and happy. I am interested in live in care and waking nights. I am able to work 2 to 3 weeks on and 1 week off in live in care with 2 hour break each day. And waking nights i am available to work 5 nights and that can include weekends. I prefer a mobile client who will need my support to get out and about. I am a kind, sincere, honest, caring, empathetic individual with a good sense of humour and a good listener. I enjoy cooking and eating healthy food and balanced diet. As a carer my role is to provide safety and comfort for my clients or patients. I have worked with people with early or late dementia, stroke, chronic illness and end of life care. I also have experience and enjoy helping with hygiene, personal grooming, medical assistance, cooking, toileting, eating and any other administrative tasks. Before I became a carer, I worked with vulnerable adults in an advocate role with age concern. I also volunteered as a friendly companion and offered emotional support and advice. I decided to become a carer after I agreed to support a friend to look after his mother after she had a fall. This experience made me realise that giving advice was good but being present with the client made a great difference in their lives. I am passionate about giving care for others, an excellent listener, a good cook, a home maker and having a good laugh. I love reading and listening to historical books and movies. I have learnt so much from the older generation by sharing and listening to the stories they tell. Apart from working in the community, I have also working in the hospital setting, home visits, day care centres and GP practices where I have been able to support clients. I am a humble individual and I respect other people's privacy and independence. I am a Christian and I love God and respect other beliefs and I do not impose my beliefs to other people. I am currently learning how to drive. And would prefer to be paid travel for every journey i make to and fro work. Please do get in touch. I would love to hear from you and look forward to working with you.
