I have patience and a lovely sense of humour which is very important as a carer. In whatever situation with my clients I feel at ease because the people I deal with may feel anxious, afraid, embarrassed or distressed either about their own health making them vulnerable. Respect, sensitivity and empathy are important, I need to be liked and be people oriented, be a good listener and be able to answer questions, discuss options and give advice/opinions as appropriate. Clear communication is also at the heart of good teamwork especially with my clients, other professionals and families. I love to gather information, put it together and make sense of it, much of this information comes from observation, small signs can give you early warning that a patient’s health is changing, and this can make a big difference to their care/wellbeing. Good communication can help you know when your client is at risk or in need, also to be attentive and well-observant will make the job easier, minimises accident and be safer. I love chatting, walking, reading, singing, cooking, travel, dancing, music, shopping etc...
