I have confidence in myself and my ability owing to my three years of Nursing experience. I have gathered sufficient expertise that enhanced my Competence, Commitment and Professionalism. My experience has enabled me to maintain clinical skills in areas including drug management, administration and documentation, Venipuncture, ecg, endoscopy, radiological procedures, intravenous cannulation, wound care, cardiac and respiratory monitoring. I have had to deal with a variety of situations such as resuscitating a patient who had cardiac arrest with the team until spontaneous circulation was returned. Additionally, I have been specifically trained, acquired necessary skills, and I can work under pressure and manage various cases with little or no supervision. For example, my previous place of work was in the busy part of the state and as such, had a large volume of patients particularly on weekends, I never failed to render my services diligently, ensuring that I supported my team members especially when they were under pressure. Also, I am excellent at working with the wider health care team including medical team, radiographers, lab scientist, physiotherapists, pharmacists dieticians and others to ensure that patients' care is co-ordinated and their needs, fulfilled. I consider it a top priority to have a thorough knowledge of the patients to enable me contribute optimally to decision-making regarding in-patient care and discharge planning at the weekly multidisciplinary meetings. I understand the importance of team work in executing projects and I excel in both individual and group settings. I possess strong interpersonal and excellent communication skills, which have helped me deal with challenging situations. An example of this in my last role was when I had to deal sensitively with a patient who was confiding in me about his state of health. I sat with him, reassured and comforted him, showed empathy and compassion and answered all questions and concerns which made the difficult experience more bearable than it might have been. I am good at controlling infections, documenting patient's care for continuity of care, keeping of records and managing information confidently. Apart from the above skills, managing the affairs of the department in the absence of a more senior staff is what I can do, I am capable of delegating and supervising other nurses, assistants and nurses on placement, acting as a role model to them thereby encouraging them to lead by example in their respective team and roles in order to achieve professional excellence. I recently made some contributions to the management team on how work should be allocated to student nurses and I was rewarded for my suggestions. Also, my skills in information technology have enabled me improved my level of nursing Care through the use of Electronic Medical Record (EMR) System, Record keeping, Electronic Prescriptions (e-Prescribing) and others. I am flexible, enthusiastic, friendly, always willing to learn, fast thinker and also able to adapt to various working conditions. These core values have enabled me to provide the services of my training per my employer's policies. Finally, I am willing to undergo any training and research that will help me fit in to my job role and further develop my skills and education to meet up with the trust policies and Nursing and Midwifery Council (NMC) guidelines on registrations. I would welcome the opportunity to participate in a personal interview to discuss further how my care fits into your requirements.
