I am very diligent and professional in my service. I am proactive, a team player, with excellent communication skills. I work promptly and efficiently. I am married with four children. I love, travelling, movies, music, reading and sport. However, my knowledge of health and social care up to degree level is one of the attributes that make me a great carer. I have worked in a range of mental health setting for four years plus, as a health care assistant, support worker and currently as a personal assistant in a community setting. Working with individuals of the diverse age group in a different care setting, such as Cheadle royal hospital, St Mary hospital, and Arbury Court in Warrington, Cygnet hospital in Bury, Autism spectrum centre in Bolton, Alexandra nursing home in Oldham on placement and currently working with adults with forensic history, learning disabilities, and challenging behaviour. The above roles have allowed me to support service users based on value such as putting people first, be transparent and going the extra mile, to build relationships with their families, by supporting them to a family visit, facilitating contact with family, arranging health appointment with others professionals such as GP, Physiotherapist, social worker and attending a multidisciplinary meeting for safeguarding and medication review. In addition, team meetings, and staff handover to ensure the continuation of care. Furthermore, working in the various health care setting involved active listening, observation of service users, to be able to make good judgement and offer advice with good interpersonal communication skills to prevent a crisis. When there is a crisis, the problem-solving skills of de-escalation and debrief will be used to solve the problem and reassess the risk. The above skills, I have developed in the past four years plus, coupled with series of training, such as Positive Behavioural Management, Medication Management and Administration, Person-Centred Support, Manual Handling, First Aid, Equality and Diversity and Handling Information. These experiences, knowledge, and training make me a great carer with great skills such as; team working, collaboration, communication and problem-solving. These are the most valuable assets I bring to the care of the people I care for or support. Finally, I am a great carer because I put the people I care for first, by ensuring that their needs are met. I am transparent in delivering my duties by telling clients what I can do and what I cannot do and if I make mistakes I let my clients know immediately. I go the extra mile for my client needs to be met. For example, I have finished work on a particular day, as was about living one of the people I support self-harmed. There were no staffs to take her to the hospital. I stayed back and take her to the hospital to support her in that difficult situation. I respect the wishes and preference of the people I support, by being creative and ensuring they get alternative when their preference is not available. I treat people I support with respect and dignity, by seeking their consent and making them take the lead in the decision about their care. The result is the promotion of high self-esteem and independence. Furthermore, communicating in low voice tone and actively listening to the people I care for or support. More also, giving quality time to the people I support, offer me the opportunity to know more about their needs and offer a possible solution.
