I worked as a carer for 4 years from 1995 and 1999 after which I stopped working to be a stay at home mum and raise my children. I got back into care work in 2022 after my youngest graduated from university. A lot had changed since I was last in care work in 1999 but what definitely had not changed was my passion for serving and caring for others. Even as a housewife and stay at home mother all I did was serve and care for those within my home as well as those coming into my home. I completed numerous courses and training to get up to speed with current practices, I learnt new skills and brushed up on old ones. Since getting back into care work in 2022 I have mainly undertaken live-in care work caring for 4 clients, 2 of which I cared for until they passed. I am often commended by my clients and their loved ones on my attentiveness, my patience and calmness, ability to provide genuine companionship to my clients and make them feel comfortable, relaxed and peaceful. My last client passed on after caring for her for 1 year and 8 months. A day with me as her carer looked like this; when my client wakes I provide personal care by washing her and taking care of her hygiene, I make breakfast and assist her to eat, I administer her medication either before or after she eats as prescribed, then I get her dressed and take her to her appointments for her hair, manicure and pedicure, sometimes doctors/hospital appointments, whatever is on the agenda for the day where it concerns her upkeep and/or health. On less busy days we stay indoors with, I complete house chores such as laundry and cleaning and will do her grocery shop after sitting down and making a list with her. If we are at home I often had long and interesting chats with her about her life experiences and current affairs which made her very happy, she loved watching the news. I prepare her lunch and dinners and in the evenings I assist her to get ready for bed, administer any medication and help her into bed. Sometimes she enjoyed a little chat about life before falling asleep. Loved ones of my clients have been pleased with my services and care of my clients. I was often commended for being able to get my clients to eat better than they had ever eaten with previous carers and help them to actually gain healthy weight. I am friendly, very approachable, attentive, empathetic, organised, gentle and caring. I have cared for clients with terminal illnesses such as brain tumour, as well as clients with early stage dementia. My hobbies include shopping, cooking, dancing, watching movies and documentaries. When starting with a new client I prefer to have a settling in period of 1 week where I can get to know my clients routines and then I sit down with the family members to discuss the period of care I can safely deliver. I prefer to have my 2 hour break each day, however if this is not possible I am happy to accumulate these hours and have a day of in the week. I am happy to travel throughout the UK as long as travelling expenses are covered one way by my future clients. I am happy to drive clients cars that are manual or automatic. I am looking for female clients only. I would love to hear from you if you think I could be of service to you or your loved one. Please get in touch and I will respond as soon as possible.
