I was inspired by an incident. It was an impulse sparked by an incident involving an elderly man who got lost early one morning and couldn't find his way home. This old man needed help right then and there. Through my approach, I proved to myself that I can talk to people who need help and support. Who want to be heard. I gained experience working in a care agency and a nursing home. I'll just say that every day spent with them is different and special. Sometimes a cup of tea and a warm conversation is all it takes.

I have 27 years practical experience in social care, supporting adults with age-related conditions, brain injuries, physical, learning and sensory disabilities (extensive experience with epilepsy and autistic spectrum disorders). In recent years I have been supporting clients with all stages of dementia, to end of life care. I believe in a person-centred ethos, with the client included and at the heart of all decisions, to respect individuality, dignity and consent, maintaining a personal code of conduct to treat my clients with the utmost respect and excellence that I would expect for my own family. I take time to really get to know my clients, their hobbies, important people, events, locations and possessions they hold dear, so that I may become a friend and a welcome addition to their home. I am pet friendly, myself having several former street dogs and cats on my small holding - I am passionate about animal welfare. I am a full clean UK driving licence holder, happy to provide support to social and medical outings. I have worked in live-in, residential, domiciliary and day-service sectors. I have an obvious sense of humour and in my spare time l enjoy helping out with community projects where I live, and crafting - this skill is transferrable as I often make memory books for clients, writing up their stories adding photographs, enhancing with QR codes for scanning associated music and will copy logos and fonts for recognisable places the person has strong ties to. The client comes first This is their home, their package. I chose my career, but the client did not choose to NEED help. Carers should be mindful of this at all times. LE3 1QX 261336 I gained my diploma in Mental Health Nursing in Nottingham in November 2015; prior to this I had worked in care doing domiciliary care. My duties included supporting patients in their own homes ensuring medication compliance and safety reporting to my line manager. Soon after I qualified in 2015, I worked in female acute and assessment wards full time and as a bank staff. I have worked on bank shifts on all the wards at the Bradgate Unit. Whilst I nursed service users with a variety of mental health illnesses, I have experience of working with patience struggling with substance and alcohol misuse. I have worked in forensic services and intensive psychiatric care unit as a bank staff, with many patients presenting with challenging behaviours. I have worked alongside with the wider team, Consultant Psychiatrists, OT, social workers, to develop treatment packages to suit individual needs and encourage service users to take responsibility of their care and recovery. Using my experience and competence to problem solve, demonstrate leadership qualities, quick thinking ability and empathetic mind to provide a high standard of nursing care to service users. From October 2021 to December 2025, I worked as a Mental Health Practitioner with Leicestershire Partnership Trust. My responsibilities included assessments and triaging patients accordingly. I worked within the multi-disciplinary team to provide holistic, patient centred care, using the Care Programme Approach and Risk Assessment models while the patient being at the centre of the plan. As a Mental Health Practitioner, I was responsible in planning and providing support and medical and nursing care to people who have a range of mental health issues triaging patients according to their needs. Supporting people with issues ranging from anxiety and depression personality and eating disorder drug and alcohol misuse list is unlimited. I have worked with student nurses offering them support during their stay on the wards. I have completed a mentorship training in order to offer student evidence - based nursing. I relish strong teamwork and a positive work ethic and as a member of the team I ensured daily basis to promote good moral and interpersonal communications within the staff team, offering support and guidance where needed. While working for the Trust I have continuously adhered to the Trust policies, procedures and the trust structures that I have learnt and adapted to, but I felt confident I embraced all situations I came across by demonstrating sound problem solving skills, researched and by sort advice from my colleagues and superiors. I have found Leicestershire Partnership Trust to be forward thinking and innovative, having looked at the divisions and services, vision statement and the ways in which the trust approaches improvement of patient and carer experience, by means of the friends and family test. There seems to be a strong emphasis on providing quality training and support to staff in order to provide excellent quality care. In addition, the presence of the Care Quality commission and its findings can only push each staff member to provide the best nursing care and therapeutic environment as possible. I am aware of the Francis report and of the changes it will have made to the trust, focusing on nursing staff providing excellent care and a common culture of care, commitment and compassion. The report underlines the importance of making patients the main priority in all that the healthcare system does. Within available resources, patients must be expected to receive effective services from caring, compassionate and committed staff, working to a common culture. Having gained experience as a band 6 nurse at this point of my career I felt excited at the opportunity to progress further. I feel I would be able support my colleagues in the absence of the ward Matron to take responsibility for the safe management of the ward, ensuring the smooth day to day running of the ward, ensuring the ward systems and standards are maintained. Aiding to ensure the ward nursing team practise within their skill level and remain updated regards contemporary practise and issues. I believe I work well under the pressure and that mental health nursing entails, I am enthusiastic and hardworking and encouraging my colleagues to have the same attitude, and I strive to be a good role model. I am always able to demonstrate excellent communication skills, both verbal and within my written work. I am aware of aspects of the role of a nurse on the ward and feel I would be confident and competent in assisting the ward matron with completing audits, looking at staff rostering, dealing with complaints and the complaint procedure, attending relevant meetings such as length of stay and in the absence of the ward matron the matron's meeting. Since working in acute wards, I have had the opportunity to manage the safe running of the ward, providing support to all staff teams and managing crisis on the ward. Whilst I understand that the organisation was going through a period of rapid change which led to a modification of structures and job descriptions which mean the co-ordinator role would change, I was able to co-operate fully with changes to my role and job description. I was responsible for supervising junior members of staff and students and to be able to be the shift leader on a regular basis, supporting my peers and encouraging others to be motivated, proactive and enthusiastic. I have had the responsibility to ensure that I protected myself and encourage others to do the same, reducing the risk of infection in the ward environment, complying with infection control policies and procedures. I took the responsibility for my own personal and professional conduct and practise in line with NMC guidelines, ensuring I always delivered an excellent standard of nursing care I have found that Mental Health Nursing is a challenging career; however, this is counterbalanced by the sense of reward gained when helping someone overcome their difficulties and help them to become a part of our community once more. Through my career so far, I have found that the opportunity to make a real difference to the lives of those who are affected by mental ill health offers the prospect of both personal and professional fulfilment I continue to be vastly interested by inpatient care, I enjoy my job role as a nurse and relish being part of a strong multi-disciplinary team, I pride myself on always retaining a sense of professional practise when at work and endeavour to bring the same enthusiasm and commitment to a new post.

My previous work experience has enlightened me the demand and the expectations of being a care worker, and I believe that I have gained more experience such as good communication skills, team work and confidentiality. I like socialising with people, enjoy listening to music, taking a walk, cooking, cleaning and going on holidays. My favourite place is the sea side beach. I'm currently ;earning how to drive and hope to have this passed soon. When starting with a new client I prefer to have a settling in period where I get to know my client and all their needs, after this period I can then discuss with client or clients family members to discuss a rotation period of 3/4 weeks on and 1/2 weeks off. When delivering live in care I also prefer to have my 2 hour break each day. I am happy to travel throughout the UK for work as long as my travelling costs are covered both ways by my future clients. I am available to work Bank holidays and my rate is charged at double pay. l like doing activities with my client, doing something different or something they like e.g taking them out for coffee, church, playing games, knitting and taking a walk around the garden also cooking fresh meals from depending on their choices, preparing meals like lasagne, chicken/ beef casserole etc. l can work alongside with District Nurse, Gp, family and other care professional and I am always willing to learn skills when caring for clients.
