I have been working in the care industry now for 13 years. I started off as a domiciliary carer working in people's homes and have worked for a few agencies in many different areas such as with the elderly, disability including lots of hoisting. I also work with special needs. I have done private work with a lady for three years which I really liked as there was continuity of care. I am generally a good all round carer and am experienced with medication, manual and electric wheelchairs as well as manual and electric hoists. My special skills are people really I particularly enjoy working with special needs, hoisting, medication and all aspects of care. I also presently care for my elderly father. My hobbies are crochet/knitting, walking, travel, gardening. I am available for around 2-4 hours (preferably in one sitting such as respite or companion care) weekly either during the week or weekdays depending on the level of care. A great care professional is someone who is person centred, listens to clients and respects their individuality. Presently, I work for an agency but have been doing regular work with special needs. A typical day involves cooking, personal care, medication, hoisting and cleaning. Also going out with the group.
