I grew up in Cornwall and started my passion for care after leaving school. I attended college where I gained knowledge and practical skills. I studied and achieved a national diploma in health and social care and gained practical experience working in the local hospital, care homes and child care settings. Once I completed my Diploma I secured a full time position as a care assistant in a private residential care home. I gained my NVQ levels 2 and 3 in health and social care and trained in the safe handling of medication. After 7 years working here, I relocated to Grimsby where I continued my caring profession. I secured employment as a senior care assistant in a care home and furthered my knowledge and understanding. I completed regular mandatory training including dementia care, Parkinson's, end of life and palliative care. I have gained practical skills in first aid and moving and handling. I have training and experience in mental capacity and Dols. In May 2022 I became a registered care home manager for a private care home. This role was an incredible experience for me where I had a greater insight into all areas of care. I worked closely with local authorities and governing bodies and gained further experience. My father in law has a diagnosis of late stage Parkinson's disease and I provide care for him on a daily basis. Gaining experiences and working my way to the top to become a registered manager was what I always aspired to become however caring for my father in law made me realise that was why I wanted to become a carer in the first place. I wanted to help and care for people and that's when I decided I wanted to be a self-employed carer. I have a small family consisting of my partner, our 5 year old daughter and 2 dogs. Being self employed means that i can see my daughter more and watch her grow but still do something that I have always had a passion for.

Excellent

Sophie is kind, friendly, reliable, communicative and efficient and helped so much to make our week's holiday in Lincolnshire a success. She helped my husband, who young onset Parkinson's, with all aspects of personal care, going to bed. My husband and I were really grateful for everything she did. I would definately recommend Sophie. I hope she will help us again when we come back on holiday.
