Becoming a carer has been a truly life-changing experience for me, and also very rewarding. As a qualified counsellor, I believe emotional support is an important part of caring, and is something which comes naturally to me. The first person I worked with, short-term, was a 93 year-old lady with dementia, I learned how to administer her medication, assist with washing, showering and grooming her. I was then placed with a 47 year-young lady, for 1 year, who had suffered 2 stroked, which had left her wheelchair-bound, unable to speak and she could only move her left hand. She needed to be hoisted showered, groomed, and also had difficulty eating, so I cooked special, soft foods for her. Despite her disabilities, she was very independent and strong-willed, with a wicked sense of humor and I learned so much from her. Since May 2023 I've been working in various parts of the UK. Caring for clients with needs such as dementia, strokes, Parkinsons, mobility issues, anxiety and depression. Providing personal care, preparing meals, supporting and administering medication, support with mobility issues, and incontinence. Offering emotional support, while enabling clients to maintain their independence. Most of all, I value the amazing people I've met, and I look forward to continuing on my journey of caring and constantly learning. Please feel free to contact me at any time, and I will reply as soon as possible.
