My background is in teaching and childcare. I started in a nursing home to supplement my income and after my mother died. For me, I saw every client as a family member. I am loving, caring, warm, patient and friendly and cheerful to every client. It is a privilege to be able to support the elderly at this time of their lives and I love being with people and learning about their lives. I show a genuine interest. I now care and support a limbless thalidomide survivor in her own home. She has early onset dementia, skeletal issues, oxygen therapy, a nebuliser, a CPAP machine, OCD, medication is administered 4 times a day. I take her to various activities including carriage driving, card making, art and visiting friends. Over the years we have become good friends, we share humour, lovely chats and I have also attended medical appointments and thalidomide conferences with her.
