I enjoy a positive outlook on life sustained by a deep personal faith and a healthy sense of humour. I am an insightful problem solver and creative thinker, recognising that individual clients have unique needs and aspirations that should be approached with sensitivity and mindful deliberation. Past experience in care and management has been varied from running farm and mine worker clinics in Zimbabwe to caring here in the UK since 2019, when I was brought on board to help set up a team for past clients who required management as a couple for a range of different needs. Stroke management, rehabilitation, moving and handling involving extensive hoisting, extensive physiotherapy and personal care, Palliative care and early dementia management have been some of my recent assignments but I do have experience in Parkinson’s COPD, Anxiety/ depressive management, Catheter care and Peg feeding. My husband and I farmed in Zimbabwe for many years where I worked as a nurse in the community and latterly have been living on a wine farm in Stellenbosch near Cape Town. We have two grown children. A married daughter living in Congo DRC as a Conservation Ecologist with her husband and our beautiful granddaughter, and a son who was born with de George syndrome who lives at home on account of his physical and emotional difficulties. I love to cook but am at my happiest when working in my extensive garden .I love to walk and spend time in nature - including the African bush which holds a particular allure for our family. Naturally I prefer to work in rural settings as I find city living oppressive.I am creative and enjoy drawing ,watercolour painting and knitting when time permits as I like to keep busy and to be productive. As a rule I prefer to work with clients for longer periods ( 12-16 weeks with 6 - 8 week breaks). This enables both client and carer to settle into a more productive rhythm ensuring continuity of care and a working partnership where trust and comfortable relationship can ensue. I am committed to a client until January 2023 but would be happy to discuss future employment if you feel I can assist and fit your requirements.
