Care is my passion and working with people to support them to live their best life is what motivates me. I enjoy getting to know people and what matters to them. I welcome a new challenge, as helping others gives me a massive sense of job satisfaction. I pride myself on my ability to build a good rapport with people or all walks of life and of all ages. I am more than happy to work with male and female clients. My career has been in care of older people. I have worked as an Occupational Therapist for the NHS & Carer Support Worker for charitable organisations. I am more than happy working on a professional qualified basis as well as a support worker role as I gain job satisfaction from making a difference and helping however I can. I have worked with many older people and working age adults with complex physical, emotional and social needs. My roles have included assessment, treatment and rehabilitation and support of people affected by strokes, Parkinson’s Disease, heart disease, arthritis, chronic lung conditions, sensory impairment, dementia, depression and anxiety. I have experience supporting people with safe moving and handling including use of mobile hoists, standing hoists, transfer equipment and slide sheets. I have worked alongside people to enable them to remain active and independent in all activities of daily living. I support people with dignity and respect, enabling them to maintain their independence and a quality of life in their own home. The range of support I can offer include managing personal care tasks and grooming, i.e access to the bath or shower, washing, dressing, shaving or applying make-up to make people feel their best. I can help with personal hygiene and continence care. I can support with day to day activities of living, including completing household chores, shopping and collecting prescriptions. I have a great deal of experience cooking and enjoy preparing home cooked, nutritionally balanced meals. In addition, I am an experienced pet owner. I am more than happy caring for animals and supporting their needs too. I am able to drive and have a clean driving licence. Ensuring the general health and well being of those I care for is paramount, so spending time to talk and listen to each person’s mood and general state is essential. Ensuring people have eaten well and had enough fluids throughout the day and prompting medication as required, as well as monitoring general health is part of my caring role. Driving enables me to support people to be involved in social activities, i.e access to local community facilities, day centres, trips out or meeting friends. I also willingly engage in favoured hobbies or activities that are important to the person I am caring for. My career has always been in care and my large extended family means caring comes second nature to me. Not many people are fortunate to say that they love their job but I can when I work to support and help others. I love socialising, spending time with friends and family and being out and about. I enjoy long walks with my children and dogs and enjoy time by the coast in the summer months. I am an avid reader and love music. I am a keen cook and love trying new recipes. I especially enjoy baking. I’d love to hear from you if you think that I am the right match for you and your loved ones. Best Wishes.
