The most important aspect of it, is to keep my clients safe and sound in their own homes. We don’t need infections and bugs. The easiest way to get those, is to go to hospital. So, minimising the risk of falls and infections is paramount. I have experience with dementia, spinal injury, catheter use, and for the past nine months, I have been closely involved with Parkinson's. For this condition, I understand the use of the specialised, time sensitive medication, moving and handling with hoists, swallowing challenges, and the use of exercises to improve mobility issues. However, if I was called upon to look after a client with a condition that I’m not familiar with, I am willing to learn new skills. I’m adept at dealing with surgeries, district nurses, physios, and occupational therapists, and I'm familiar with many types of equipment that can make a client’s life easier. I also believe in getting out of the house where possible, to events or socialising, or even if it’s just a walk with the client around the garden, or up and down the road. My cooking skills are really good, and I can produce not only traditional British meals, but even more exotic stuff. I believe in using fresh produce, and I don’t take the lazy way out by using frozen ready meals. I’m happy to travel throughout the UK, however, if distances are considerable, I would look to recover travel expenses. Should there be excessive night calls, there would be a surcharge. I am happy to work periods of 1 to 4 weeks at a time, but suggest a settling in initial period of a week or two, to get to know each other. I have established great relationships and friendships with my clients, and I believe that I have added an injection of happiness and positiveness into their lives. This in turn has touched me, bringing a lot of self-satisfaction into my own life. Living within this setting allowed me to grow up with a genuine understanding of how to care for others and this sparked a passion for caring for people of all ages which has remained with me ever since. I have almost 20 years experience of providing care and I feel privileged to have been able to care for people of all ages. I have worked in care homes for the elderly and while my own children were younger I worked as a PA looking after children with disabilities on their transport to and from school. While I have loved both of these roles, I felt that I was not able to progress and provide the care service that I feel so passionate about. That is why I took the leap of faith 3 years ago to provide self employed care. Over the last 3 years I have been fortunate enough to be able to provide a range of care and companionship services to some wonderful people. I care for people in their own home and therefore, I am able to provide care and support that is tailored to the individual. This can be support with cooking, cleaning, shopping, outings etc as well as personal care. I pride myself on a friendly and professional support service which helps those I care for maintain their independence. I have experience in catheter care including weekly changing cleaning. I have experience in hosting,diabetes giving insoline. Also autism ADHD I enjoy cooking and baking so happy to make meals extra. I work Monday to Friday. my hourly rate covers expenses and mileage I also have business insurance on my car so happy to take clients out if needed.
