Occupational therapy

KY12 8DP 375738 Hello, My name is Karen and I have a background working for 23 years, as an Occupational Therapist. Some of my occupational therapy career was in NHS hospitals and for many years I have run a private mental health therapy business, where I work with women, supporting them with mental health struggles. Occupational Therapists ate dual trained in both physical and mental health fields and so although I decided to specialise in mental-health, I am trained to work with supporting people with physical health conditions too. Prior to becoming an OT, and during my OT training , I worked as a carer for an agency, and worked in various settings, including supporting people in their own homes, dementia care, hospital wards and stroke rehabilitation. I absolutely loved this work and I still remember fondly the people that I cared for and supported. In 2025, my late dad became unwell and required hospice at home care and I decided to scale down my business, so I could care for him,. This experience (and caring for my late mum on hospice care at home in 2020) has led me full circle to the start of my career and a move towards roles that enable me to work in a practical way, supporting people to remain in their own homes and helping to contribute to wellbeing and comfort. I am registered with the health and care professions council (HCPC))
