Since then, I have worked for numerous domiciliary agencies, nursing homes, residential homes, mental health homes, in schools and live-in companies. Throughout the years, I have experience with personal care, moving and handling, washing and dressing, changing pads, using health-care equipment, emptying catheters and attaching catheters to the night bags, prompting and administrating medications (tablets and liquids), companionship, cooking fresh meals and light cleaning. Prompting and feeding meals and prompting to drink fluids throughout the day. Also, going out with my clients, accompanying them to the doctors and hospital appointments. Doing their general shopping and run errands for my clients like picking up medications from the pharmacy. I have experience with clients who have suffered from dementia, cancer and clients with challenging behaviour. I've also provided care for clients who had parkinson's disease, multiple sclerosis(MS), brain disease, bed-bound patients, end of life and palliative care. I love my role as a carer and I understand my duties. I work with people who rely on me for full or additional support. I don't see myself doing anything else. I have just completed my foundation degree in social care, which equates to a level 5 NVQ Personally, I have experience with caring for a friend who had secondary progressive MS, a partner who had N-Stage 4 Cancer and have cared for my ex partners 2 autistic sons along with my daughter who has also been diagnosed with Autism. I'm very active and enjoy going out and doing things in the community. Going to the beach, shopping, walking my dog, etc. I also like swimming, bowling, trampolining etc. When I'm home, I like watching Australian soaps and comedy films as well as cooking and property renovations. I can call from 2-8 hours a day, depending on your needs. If you need to travel, I am happy to support you on public transport or using my own car. £18 per weekday hourly rate £27 per evening, weekend, or bank holiday hourly rate £55 per hour emergency hourly rate (less than 24 hours notice) £350 live in day rate £1750 live in week rate Any travel using my personal car is charged at 45p per mile rounded up to the nearest mile. Any out of pocket expenses from any activities are paid for, by the client, for myself prior to the activity in order for the activity to go ahead (eg, parking, drinks/snacks, entry to activities if unable to get free carers entry, etc.) Invoices are sent out for the month by the 24th of the previous month. Invoices need to be paid prior to shifts commencing. Shift cancellations require a 14-day notice period in order for refunds to be issued. I do not usually like the term carer, this may sound a little odd as you have probably googled the term career to come across this cite but I do not see myself as a carer for my clients, I see myself more as a personal assistant. I adopt a "can do attitude to all my work' and have assisted many of my clients to help with their overall well-being, an example of this is a client whose kitchen and living room walls were a bit tired, so whilst I was there for companionship and hygiene, I painted the walls as this helped improve wellbeing which is what I am all about. I am currently in my twelfth year as a qualified occupational therapist and have a breadth of experience working in both people's homes and on hospital wards. My work has allowed me the opportunity to work as both a rehabilitation-focused occupational therapist and with people who have long-term or life-long disabilities. Prior to qualifying as an occupational therapist I worked for four years as a carer/hcsw and it was this work that gave me a passion for helping others to live to their full potential, in comfort and with dignity. I currently work for Swansea Council as an Occupational Therapist it would therefore not be appropriate for me to take additional within this area. I have over 10 years experience in care working in the UK, I have worked with the elderly, learning disabilities, Autistic, mental health care and worked in care homes and domiciliary care in the community. I am teachable and love meeting new people. As I am not yet driving I am looking for night shifts or live in care. When I do live in I prefer to do a rotation of 3 weeks on and 1 week off, on my off week I do like to do 2/3 nights per week. When doing live in position I do prefer to have my 2 hour break each day where possible. I prefer to do live in care in Wales and England only.
