I have worked in a Care Home as a Care Assistant for over 10 years with SVQ Level 2 and 3 in Health and Social Care. Experienced in the care of adults and elderly. I have cared for patients with Dementia, MS, Parkinson's and more. I am able to carry out all aspects of the role from personal care, administering medication, meal preparation and record keeping. I am patient and empathetic by nature. Nothing gives me so much joy than to make a positive change in someone's life while promoting independence. I can easily adopt to most situations. My hobbies are cooking, music, reading, code words/crosswords, walking, knitting and spending time with family. I am looking for Live- in work within Scotland on a 1 week on 1 week off rota. I am also available for day/night time work.
Hi, my name is Serena, I am 52 years old. I am originally from Italy but I have been living in Scotland since 2013. I was already a carer in my country, I was a living carer for a couple ,the wife was with Alzheimer and the husband 89 years old .Then their daughter was bipolar so I had few challenges, I was doing everything in the house, plus book appointments and give meds. Same here for almost 3 years I have been looking after a Lady with dementia and difficult mobility. Then I start work for care homes and community, I get more knowledges about hoists, lifting ,approach different kinds of dementia 's stage and had my SVQ3. I am very carefully about the need of my clients and I always try to cheer them up. Understand the situation and promote their independence, as well their humans rights. Have been in behaviours challenges and learn to react in the best way to let the person calm down. I can change stomach bag, hoists people and cook. I have got a car and I would love to take care of the people in their houses, because I think they feel more comfortable.
I am a humble person who goes the extra mile and makes the difference. The client’s well-being is very important to me. I am only interested in Fixed jobs because I do another job during the week. I can assist with household work and shopping on weekends .
Hi, my name is Danielle and I would like give you an insight of how I cared for my loved ones the responsibilities I took upon myself to learn and learning a lot from the ones I cared for, the different needs others have and how I could care for and assist my clients in my role. Helping to dress, undress, putting on slippers shoes showering or top & tails if this is difficult for them depending on their day. Housework duties, washing ,cleaning, hoovering, ironing, changing bedding and other things when needed. When sometimes things go wrong for them TV (major for my loved ones) simple things like changing batteries, sorting cables, lightbulbs, phones home/mobile. Healthwise I know how important medication is and would make sure they get theirs when needed, I changed dressings ( only with healthcare providers instructions) I can help with foot care I can cut nails and generally watch out for things that can go wrong especially if there diabetic my dad had quite a few over the years and they need treated asap. I sorted out all the appointments, hospital, doctors/nurse, podiatry, dietitian,INR clinic. I am more than willing to work with a family member to make sure you loved one is taken care of over the years I have seen many things due to my father's health this has given me the skills to provide others with the care I can offer. I like to play games dominoes or cards and even jigsaw puzzles and i'm willing to try other games (Teach me something new) I have a serious side and I have a fun side too I will fit to their preference. I like to talking to others I love hearing about their lives especially older people there stories are fascinating at times I'm a good at listening and one to one time I feel is important again if that's what is needed. I can reassure anyone that I will respectfully understand your loved one, I will treat them with compassion and look after them like they were my own. I understand from being a carer to my dad for so long that's all I ever wanted ( I had medication prompt for my dad and 4x daily when he had 2nd TIA) as it is always on your mind that they are getting looked after I promise you I will do that. I am willing to answer any questions before hiring me especially if you are just unsure!! I want to share with you how I got to be a carer, To start when I was a teenager I used to look after my Autistic nephew when my sister needed me holidays or respite. I started looking after my elderly father in 2009 full-time after he had a turn when we were shopping I was classed as an unpaid carer I devoted my time to him any time of the day and night we worked well together and I knew him so well, I got to learn when he was unwell even a urine infection in an elderly person is bad causes confusion, he had diabetes rheumatoid arthritis (mobility was bad) cellulitis on very swollen legs (fluid) recurring diabetic ulcers, gout (stopped him walking at times) chronic kidney disease ( high potassium) diet was crucial, he had x3 TIA in front of me which I dealt with promptly, heart attack while in hospital, my dad and family members reckon I saved his life not just once, after the 2nd TIA he was left with cognitive impairment and I had to change the way I cared for him as I would never see him upset. I wash him on occasions and cleaned him after he wet or soiled himself. I shaved his hair and I shaved him when he was unwell otherwise he was as independent as he could be and I'd helped him be that. I took him shopping and days out to see his family(siblings) I am very committed and compassionate I will look after others and listen as much as they want to speak I will be respectful and responsible for there needs I feel confident going forward and doing this. I lost my dad to covid in 2020 aged 85. I have just recently looked after a lady aged 86 with late stage dementia she had sundowning and family members wanted me there a few nights a week again to look after her and to reassure her also they needed respite, she is now in full-time care family members are willing to give references.
