I'm a mother of 6 boys. I love caring - I have been doing this job since I was just 20 years old, so it's the only job that I have ever done and I have been a care assistant for 10 years and I love and value this job. I am happy to be useful. Helping and caring - it's what I do best, always providing high standards care with a focus on everyday care such as personal hygiene, mental simulation and well-being, ensuring the accurate completion of all administration and documentation related to the patient care, acting in the best interest of patient, contributing to the safe and compassionate delivery of care. Ensuring the maintenance and upkeep of patient rooms and communal areas to promote patient safety. I am a good team worker, flexible, honest, a good communicator, courageous, compassionate and a trustworthy person. I'm not just here to give good care, I'm here to do an amazing job.
I am an experienced care worker and have been working in care for over 20 years. Throughout those years I have worked with a vast variety of individuals including elderly, disabled and autistic. I hold certificates in first aid, moving and handing and food hygiene. I am a very friendly and outgoing person and always put my clients needs first and do the best to understand their individual care needs to offer a tailored approach. I have a very good understanding of national care standards including health and safety standards, including the health and social act. Due to my vast experience working with a wide variety of individuals I am able to deal with difficult issues such as dementia, physical and mental disabilities. I am therefore very adept in care tasks such as helping getting dressed, showers, preparing meals, taking individuals out for activities. I always try and maintain independence for my clients and as well as encouraging clients in their own activities I am always on hand to step in and take over if needed. I am a punctual, hardworking and reliable worker. I will always put all my effort into what I do which translates into my care work. I hold a full UK driving license and a confident driver, I don’t smoke and have full Covid vaccines. I look forward to working alongside care users to provide the best service possible.
My role as a care/support worker, communication is the base of my work to get to the bottom of my client’s needs. I use effective communication oral and written, monitoring, and administering medication, understanding clients, and devising care plans to meet their needs. If there is a care plan in place, I follow the individual care plan, if not then I have to sit with the family the client and make a care plan that suits the client depending on their needs. I also reflect on my day today's work to improve work practices, liaising with family, nurses and doctors to fulfill the clients’ needs. I report to the family and other people involved all changes and wellbeing of the clients. Also, work as a team with other professionals who come in to support the clients in a centered way and ensure all personal hygiene aspects of the clients are met. This may include hoisted if needed, washing, cooking, and feeding, changing pads depending on each individual needs. I also have a duty of empowering service users and treating each person as an Individual. Having worked in health and social care for more than a decade, I have been pursuing not only to be a caregiver but to assess and provide a client centered assessment and intervention strategies and deliver unique support options for them and be able to determine the needs and goals of the clients. I am applying for the above post as a Live in Carer because I have worked as a Live in Carer for quite a while and I have acquired substantial experience in working with people with learning difficulties and mental health needs and other illnesses such as cancer, strokes, etc. Also, I can do hoisting but I prefer doing it when we’re 2 people doing it. However, this experience has made me develop an interest which forms the basis of my career ambitions in social care, confirming my commitment and desire to improve people’s lives. Encouraging service users to take an active role in all aspects of daily living and helping them to access the local and wider community as often as possible. Working directly with service users and to encourage their psychological, social, physical, intellectual, cultural and emotional development. Being fully involved in the key worker system and the development and maintenance/update of service user plans, I feel I can make a positive contribution to the service user with the skills I have acquired from my previous jobs. My role and responsibilities involved the following: Providing opportunities for individuals to develop skills in a way that respects the person involved. Promoting choice and independence to allow individuals concerned to realize their own potential. NB: I do not drive at the moment, but I don’t mind travelling far away from my place. I can go up to 160 miles away from home. I am flexible as I can work up to six weeks where applicable.
I am friendly and approachable individual who is dedicated to delivering person centred care with empathy respect and kindness. I have been a carer for over 6 years. In my spare time I like to travel, go to see movies and especially music. My availability is very flexible and I am happy to work days and nights.
